I'm thinking of doing a series of these and 2003 seemed like the perfect year to start since there were 5 major girl group eras in full swing. Girls Aloud were just launching, t.A.T.u arrived for the first of two big eras, Sugababes were on top form with their multi-platinum selling third album, Atomic Kitten followed up their highly successful Feels So Good with the underperforming Ladies Night and Mis-Teeq gave the world 'Scandalous'. An iconic year all round!

Hey Scene! :hi:

Great idea for a thread, I have to say I think I enjoyed Mis-Teeq’s sound at the time and Scandalous was a big hit (as were all the others mentioned). I went for t.A.T.u as my second favourite.

Ooooh those top 3 second singles are amazing

Girls Aloud, Girls Aloud, Sugababes

Hey thanks! I loved Mis-Teeq too, though I actually preferred CGIB to Scandalous at the time. :kink:

I went with Girls Aloud for the entire era. All 4 singles are brilliant (even LGC) and have stood the test of time imo. The lead single was a difficult one but went with t.A.T.u in the end as ATTSS is just an incredible pop song with an iconic video. No Good Advice got my last vote as its one of their very best for me and saved them from OHW status.

Voted for Sugababes on the first one as it's the only album there that I've heard lol but remember it being great.

t.A.T.u. for the both the last two but lead single was tougher as I also love 'Hole In The Head' and 'Scandalous' too. 'No Good Advice' is one of GA's best for me as well!

Great idea!

I voted for Three / 'Hole In The Head' / 'No Good Advice' - was quite close to picking t.A.T.u. for the latter, loved that breakbeat swerve for them

It's a t.A.T.u. clean sweep for me! But otherwise I'd have picked Girls Aloud for lead single and Sugababes for second single.

I never liked Not Gonna Get Us at the time (maybe too ‘advanced’ for my 9 year old self  ) but have grown to really like it over the years. Was there anything else like it out at the time?

This depends on if I’m voting based on my preferences then or now?

I’ll go with “then” which makes it an Atomic Kitten clean sweep!

I voted a while ago but I forgot to respond… now I’m not certain what I voted for :drama:

Pretty sure I’d have gone with Sound of the Underground and No Good Advice for singles, but I might have chosen Three over Sound of the Underground for era.
