Over the past decade, Becky has made the moves to crown herself the undeniable diva of Britain's dancefloor, but her ascent hasn't been an easy ride. Introduced to the UK public on the fledgling series of The Voice UK (a show while, still running, has struggled to replicate the alumni success of The X Factor or even Pop Idol), Becky was dropped from her original deal but, through hard work and determination, has become the go-to voice for many DJs over the past 10 years, and her formula speaks for itself - 1 UK Number 1 single, 6 Top 10s and 19 UK Top 40 hits is nothing to sniff at. Now, with the release of her second album Believe Me Now? (out May 31 via Polydor), we thought it was high time to give you the updated numbers on Becky's biggest-ever tracks in the UK. But before we reveal the list in full, here's a closer look at the Top 5. 5. Crazy What Love Can Do (with David Guetta & Ella Henderson) Released: 2022 Official Singles Chart peak: Number 5 Total UK chart units: 1.1 million A veritable meeting of the minds, Ella Henderson is another British pop vocalist who has found her haven in dancefloor beats over the last decade and with the added sparkle of some David Guetta magic, Crazy What Love Can Do burnt a path all the way to Number 5 in 2022, and in 2024 has accumulated 1.1 million chart units and 132 million streams. 4. Piece of Me (with MK) Released: 2016 Official Singles Chart peak: Number 37 Total UK chart units: 1.4 million An important moment in Becky's career, Piece Of Me was her first release since the breakdown of her first deal with Parlophone, but the start of a promising new career as every DJ's go-to choice for a featured vocal. Despite only just breaking into the Top 40, peaking at Number 37, Piece Of Me now ranks as Becky's fourth biggest-song ever here, with 1.4 million chart units and 138 million streams. 3. Afterglow (with Wilkinson) Released: 2013 Official Singles Chart peak: Number 8 Total UK chart units: 1.7 million Technically the song that started it all, Afterglow was Becky's first official single after her stint on The Voice, and things got off to a very good start! With some truly jubliant production flourishes from David Guetta, Remember remains Becky's highest-charting single as a lead artist, peaking at Number 3. It's her second biggest-song overall with 1.7 million chart units, but is actually her most-streamed song in the UK, with 202 million streams altogether. 1. Gecko (Overdrive) (with Oliver Heldens) Released: 2014 Official Singles Chart peak: Number 1 Total UK chart units: 1.8 million The juddering Gecko (Overdrive) was an instant Number 1 debut for Becky and Oliver Heldens, with her voice sounding crisp, clear and totally in control over this frantic future-house beat. May 30, 20241 yr Interested to see how her new album performs - the last 2 singles missed the Top 40 and it doesn’t have big streaming hits to prop up ‘sales’ like her streaming album and debut album.
May 30, 20241 yr To be fair the last two have been solo singles and they never do particularly well for her, I think this’ll chart higher as she’s got multiple cds and vinyls this time not just one cd and one vinyl like she had for only honest in the werkend

You have to adjust for when the songs were released/popullar to compare them properly. Maybe if they coule go back in time they would have chosen a different sales:streaming ratio. But at the time when it was 1:100 or 1:150 it made an almost negligible difference they probably thought it would be silly to put it even lower. And I don't think they can really change it now. Although as I have mentioned a few times on here I don't think it would be that hard to get a computer to calculate a multiplier for each year to balance things out a bit for their all-time lists. That's assuming they're not deleting the sales data from past years at least.

That's assuming they're not deleting the sales data from past years at least. I don’t think they could easily downgrade all the certifications though. They’ve made their bed now. It’s only an issue when comparing pre streaming age hits with streaming age hits really - otherwise it’s OK.

May 31, 20241 yr 2xPlatinum/1.4m+ for a #37 peaking single does look daft, but I've tried to make my peace with how things have gone! :lol: It has been quite enduring despite the peak. I looked at the chart from the week it peaked at #37, and checked all their certifications, and there's quite a few singles that were higher in the chart than 'Piece of Me' that have ultimately gone on to sell less. Most notably Clean Bandit - Tears is still only Platinum despite peaking at #5 and spending 8 weeks in the Top 10! June 1, 20241 yr It has taken 8 years for Piece of Me to go double platinum. I don't think that's "mockery" of charts lol What has that got to do with anything? My point remains that a #37 peaking single having over a million sales because of streaming is ridiculous. I truly have lost most of my interest in the charts sales wise now, those huge huge hits from years ago just don't seem so huge anymore thanks to this mockery. :(
