Shakira wins a third round, beating off competition from Natasha Bedingfield's Pocketful of Sunshine on a vote of 17-12! Pocketful of Sunshine was the title track and second single from her second North American album, peaking in the top 5 in the US and Canada yet inexplicably not being released/promoted anywhere else! It could have easily saved/prolonged NB's popularity if pushed.

 

Round 4 now and Shakira comes up against former chart nemesis Rihanna whose Unfaithful was denied number one by none other than Hips Don't Lie. :o This time, Shakira's summer bop is up against Rih's mammoth Umbrella, the song that defined summer 2007 and spent a huge 10 consecutive weeks at number one throughout the aptly wet summer.

Never liked 'Umbrella' (or anything of hers until 'Don't Stop The Music' then 'Disturbia'. Saying that I do put it above the likes of 'Take A Bow' and 'Work' though which are both awful).
