50 Cent's 'Best Of' has a peak of #31 and 157 weeks and counting in the top 100 without ever spending a single week on any of the sales based charts. Pitbull and XXXTENTACION also have compilations with 100+ chart weeks without any appearance on sales charts.

Glad Taylor is touring the Uk during this time as imagine without it she for sure will have fallen behind Billie/dropped due to not really having a big hit (Fortnight is a hit but it’s not big compared to Lover’s Cruel Summer and Midnigjhts Anti Hero).

She is lucky her fanbase is very devoted because the album is rubbish

Opinions are subjective. It's actually a great body of work.

You seem to hate everything every woman releases so this opinion from you in hardly groundbreaking.

Are we supposed to believe someone that hates Taylor with all their guts makes an anti-Taylor post every 5 fricking minutes

has spent 3-4 hours listening to Taylor's 57-track long album? lol sure they didn't

if they made the comment without listening, that's foolish

if they spent 4 hours listening to the album while hating Taylor with a passion, that's the opposite of smart :D

Last I checked it was 31 tracks, not 57. And yes a lot of people are claiming it's a great body of work but as a casual Taylor fan I'm not impressed by it and can't get through the whole album. It definitely wouldn't be doing nearly as well if she wasn't touring the UK right now.

TTPD isn't an instant album though, actually took me 3 or 4 listens to really start to appreciate it, not my favourite Taylor album though

To claim it wouldn't be doing well if she wasn't touring though is a bit ludicrous , probably wouldn't have as many weeks at number 1 but would likely still be top 10 at worst

Who claimed it wouldn’t be doing well without the tour? I think this is aimed at me, I just said I think it will have fallen behind Billie/dropped a bit, as in I imagine Billie would be doing higher streaming numbers (which isn’t absurd to say as Billie was just 1.5K behind on Monday? And a tour is proven to generate loads of streams both before in anticipation and afterwards?).

This is because Billie has two hits from her album (Birds of a Feather has been doing large numbers since launch 4-5 weeks ago)

Mango - 2 posts above yours.

Not getting into the debate on quality of the album but to say I've heard it once (the short version) and that was enough.

Billie and Taylor are pretty even in streams: both have 3-4 songs doing well and couple of songs beyond them not freefalling. Billie has the bigger hit in "Birds" but it doesn't benefit much on album chart
probably wouldn't have as many weeks at number 1

I guess that would also be true if they weren't strategically blocking other artists from #1 at the last minute on certain weeks.

It's funny, I see a similar thing every time Drake puts out a new album. Like there'll be this mass of negative opinions from people who I can't honestly imagine went into it expecting to like it but did anyway because they have too much time on their hands? It's like the definition of posting one's own L online. And then unless someone's especially detailed and descriptive, it's hard to tell them apart from people who are just hating on something they haven't listened to (and maybe just took someone else's cliff notes) because they want to. The 'everyone hates everything' state of online discourse is so strange and hard to justify at times.

I never said it wouldn't be top 10, just that it wouldn't be doing as well if she wasn't touring. Probably wouldn't have as many weeks at number 1 = not doing as well. Of course touring is going to boost her current album sales/streams, there's really nothing ludicrous about that.

I don't think I ever made a negative comment about Taylor before all this chart versions. The album was just bland and dull in a year with a lot of great albums. Even if we compare it to beyonce she didn't have many hits from the album but overall it was a solid album with good critical acclaim. Taylor set the bar high then released a hugely underwhelming album and its not a surprise that cruel summer is already back to doing better than almost every song off it because it's far superior to anything on it ✌️

I think I can do it with a broken heart and guilty as sin? we’re the only two songs that could become hits, she should have made one the lead. Guilty as sin is the fourth highest streamed from the album despite not being on the eras tour, I wonder how high it’d be if it was included

Am I allowed to say that TTPD is my favourite album of the year so far?

It’s the only album I’ve actually gone to listen to in full (yes, all 31 tracks) beyond it’s first week of release. All other albums I’ve heard and liked tend to be spamming them for the first week and then just adding my favourites to my 2024 playlist (which is the norm for me - so TTPD is actually the rarity for me)

Taylor Swift could be about to power her way to a seventh No.1 finish for The Tortured Poets Department. With 10,997 sales for the week so far, including 9,086 from streams, it is ahead of Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard And Soft (8,887 sales, 7,562 from streams) and Charli XCX’s Brat (6,105 sales). Tuesday’s streams are yet to be counted. The rest of the Top 5 is comprised of new entries from Sea Girls (Midnight Butterflies, 5,307 sales) and One Hand Clapping by Paul McCartney & Wings (4,888 sales).

In the singles race, Sabrina Carpenter continues to dominate, with Please Please Please at No.1 on 52,975 sales and Espresso at No.2 on 43,236. Eminem’s Houdini (38,141 sales), Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) (31,995 sales) and Billie Eilish’s Birds Of A Feather (31,423 sales) complete the Top 5.
