They must just mean the USA delivers the biggest revenue, which I could believe. But no way is she a bigger artist in the USA over UK/Aus.

Not so sure about the revenue either... Like said before, depending on track/album the US consumption might be bigger in actual numbers (like yeah, 80k Spotify streams from the US is better than 75k from the UK lol), but it cannot be when the size of the potential audience is taken into account.

Have BMG really deluded themselves into thinking America is her biggest market?

USA her biggest market is.......wild but OK

I guess more people more streams lol

She is literally royalty in UK and Australia

It’s a cash statement - she’s relatively unknown stateside but even at that level is pulling in the ££.

I think that statement was misrepresented in the article. I read it as purely more cash from a streaming perspective. But I still say uk is her strongest as it’s not just the streaming, but the other channels od revenue such as tour tickets, the umpteen vinyl and CD sales, etc which she doesn’t have in the USA.

At least I’m glad this article didn’t gloat about what a global smash PP was.

UK Midweeks:

37 (1) Tension II

Sales: 1,259 (-96%)

Yesterday: 306 (ranked 76)

CD: 541

Digital: 145

Streaming: 428 (No 134)

LP: 144

To be honest, it’s higher than I expected.

Jesus, not gonna sugarcoat it that’s a disaster.

Oh thats a horrible fall and i would say it looks like no chance of a 2nd week top 40 now.

Im not shocked but had hopes it might manage to stay top 30.

Lets hope they can pull something out of the bag to help it in some now during the week.

Look at it this way, there's 17 new/re-releases ahead of it so without those it'd still be top 20 (and without the other 19 albums it'd still be number one)

:drama:

That’s horrendous!

Was not expecting it to be that low on the first update.

Considering her falls from #1 have been pretty solid until this point too:

Kylie88: 1-2

Enjoy Yourself: 1-3

Greatest Hits: 1-3

Fever: 1-2

Aphrodite: 1-2

Golden: 1-4

SBIT: 1-2

Disco: 1-5

Tension: 1-8

144 vinyls seems shockingly low for this point, they could easily shift more if they wanted to.

Maybe this is the result when your core market has zero promo and you chase the American dream.

Agreed. Get back to GB Kylie, never mind trying to sell your profitable tour. We need Kylie back on The One Show (again) so that Shirley and Anne will go out to Tesco and buy the CD (oh wait they don’t sell CD’s anymore)

^ I mean go and flog your wares elsewhere but there could’ve been more visibility for this release for her, I get it’s a bit of a side project and a tool to sell the tour.

Well Rag N Bone Man is 53 lol

i mean Coldplay is 23 too after only 4 weeks.

14 New Entries too ahead.

i am sure something will pop up for us to buy :)

The sales are OK to be honest. The chart position a struggle.#

Too busy promoting in her biggest market haha

38 last week sold 3.2k. there was only 1.7k sales between 38 and 125..... every stream counts

Oops... Wasn't quite expecting that.

My thinking was they should have held back Extension II for this week. I'm sure it's not many sales, but might have held it a bit higher?

So I finally got round to listening to this earlier today and bluntly I'm surprised at just how poor this album is and think it's probably the worst I've ever heard from her. I really enjoyed most of Tension and thought it was her strongest album in a long time but there is only Someone For Me and maybe Shoulda Left Ya that feel even vaguely worthy of being associated with the first album.

I can see why they've ended up going with this weird Tension II idea because it feels like an album of ideas that weren't good enough for the original one, it reminds me of the sort of thing you'd get as a bonus disc on a deluxe edition - presumably they weren't confident enough in the songs to sell them as a brand new era/project and have just thrown this out as a bit of a cash grab to make the most of having the songs recorded.
