February 20Feb 20 I would assume James Bye chose to leave a while ago and knowing the anniversary was coming up it was perfect timing, and he stayed until now to have a big exit. He might not be the most exciting character but James created such a heart of the show character and family man that it was impossible to write him out without dying really. There’s no way someone like Martin would just leave their kids so they could hardly have him randomly decide to go and live with Michelle or something, especially when he’s just found out he has another son. So I don’t think it’s comparable to say Ronnie and Roxy where they were axed and it was just a huge huge mistake, it sadly kind of had to happen. I know they recast Michelle so it’s not impossible, but that was a huge misfire and something I don’t think they’d do again, plus it was after absolutely years when it was clear Susan Tully would never return.
February 20Feb 20 Martin's screams at the beginning of the episode were so harrowing :cheeseblock: As expected, Lacey was incredible. Such a great episode. Loved the comedic relief with B/Lauren/Sonia.
February 21Feb 21 If James Bye wanted to quit the role as Martin, instead of killing him off, they should’ve brought back James Alexandrou as Martin

February 21Feb 21 If James Bye wanted to quit the role as Martin, instead of killing him off, they should’ve brought back James Alexandrou as Martin Agreed :( I think it was a mistake. They could have had him adjust to life in a wheelchair, as another actor if needed. That would have made for an interesting storyline, and quite a few people would be able to relate to, as well, either first hand or through family/ friends. Queen Stacey killed it, though. Really good actor. Martin was excellent, too. They killed him off when they have deadwood like Junior, Vinny, Alfie, Kojo, Bernadette, and Cindy around!! Some of the new Mitchells aren't great either. Kathy's acting isn't great, but she is an iconic with the best one liners! She should NEVER EVER EVER have been the Walford Whacker though. It doesn't make a lick of sense. Also, what did she wipe the shovel down with, and how did she store in the barrel store? She was thinking very clearly when, only a year ago, she was utterly useless with Keanu... Come to think of it, Bernadette was the obvious choice to kill. She would have died where Keanu died, and she has no real place in the show anymore. It would also have ended the 6 storyline for good.
February 21Feb 21 James Alexandrou doesn't want to do the role I remember when Kim Medcalf’s Sam left in 2005, they brought back Danniella Westbrook in 2009
February 21Feb 21 I noticed one thing on the live episode and have seen it since on TikTok. I'm sure it was just the camera angle or something... But... Did anyone else notice Lauren smell Sonia's knickers after Bianca threw them to her?

February 22Feb 22 I haven’t seen EastEnders in a hot minute (like 10-15 years probably lol) but I’ve seen odd snippets here and there throughout those years and I keep seeing the Martin scene on Tik Tok (I had no idea it was THE Martin Fowler) but tell me why I started crying and then Stacey Slater delivers one of the all time greatest soap performances in history?? THAT CRY she lets out was harrowing af! She’s always been THE unsung hero if EastEnders imo. Give her everything!
February 22Feb 22 I thought Ruby’s reaction was pitch perfect tbf. Shame the sound of her scream carried on to the next scene with Stacey but that was only sort of error I noticed.

February 22Feb 22 Looks like the Fowlers will live on... Vicki Fowler is returning + a new man and his son - https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2025/east...ford-new-family We are spared a Spencer Moon return
February 22Feb 22 And her boyfriend is Fletch from Holly/Jez from Waterloo Road. Honestly I’m surprised they didn’t just recast Spencer too but thank god, the last thing we need is anything more for Alfie Moon to do. The press release thing says she is “representing her distraught mum Michelle” so that’s confirmation Michelle won’t be at the funeral, which I didn’t expect tbh. It’s a shame the last Michelle recast was a dumpster fire bc they could have just waited and done it now with Vicki, but obviously at the time they didn’t know

She was dire. I hope they cast the original Martin, the Greek one, as Martin's cousin. Why not? Spencer Moon was one of the worst characters of all time. No way can he come back.
