The Cindy storyline was a huge flop. I dread to think what they have in store for her when she gets back.

I feel like bringing characters back from the dead should only be done if there's a really really great storyline and further plot development beyond that for them to get stuck into, both Cindy and Kathy's returns haven't really added much of note imo like the big plot twist shouldn't just be "oh she's actually alive" and that's that, they need more otherwise it's such a waste. It means that as an audience we're sick of back from the deads so dread what's going to come next if they dare do it again.

Ronnie and Roxy would be the exception, idk how they'd do that considering how they died but minor details 👀😂 If I heard they were doing that though I'd be dreading what they were planning bc it could ruin their characters and they end up being waste of spaces like Kathy and Cindy.

It was absolutely a mistake to kill them off (and Abi for that matter) but when we’ve seen them die on screen I can’t believe people were genuinely holding out hope that they would just appear in Spain or something during the anniversary. Not sure how true this is but I have seen they were only going to kill off Roxy then Samantha Womack disagreed and they killed her off too.

Obviously with Kathy and Cindy, you can retcon them easier because they were off screen deaths so you can take more liberties. I also think Kathy has slotted in excellently anyway since she came back, as if she’s never been away, even if she’s not always the most exciting character, whereas Cindy feels very short term explosion with nowhere to go. And even then explosion is really really pushing it, I did enjoy her return initially just for the shock and drama, and I think having her tied into the Knights was decent, but then they forced George and his family on us so much then they had the horrendous who attacked Cindy storyline. They could have killed her off with that or even in the explosion because I really don’t know what on earth they can do with her now. I know the point of Cindy is that she is always a horrific mess and unlikable but that always has a shelf life so they should have done more with it. I feel like they could have tried to redeem her, have a little arc of her getting better and making things up, making a go of things with Ian then dying in the explosion (granted that only happened because she was arguing with Ian lol), that would be something, everything else has been a damp squib. Idk they’ve just squandered it so much and it’s different to Kathy, she was a character who could come back and slot in and it makes sense whereas Cindy obviously burned bridges and it’s harder to just have her there in the square.

I was wary at the time it leaked that a Cindy return could flop. As you said, Liam, there always was a place for Kathy in the show just waiting for her. They botched her return story but she was definitely needed. Cindy has the opposite problem. They got her return episodes very right but she just struggles to find a place in the show. Her previous stunts all went the same way-an attempt at normality that she got quickly bored with before looking for the next bit of fun. Bringing her back wasn’t wrong but she’s perhaps a character best left out there and returning every now and then to create trouble.

I think Cindy need to interact more with other characters, like cindy and sharon have had little to no screen time, i wont say cindys return was a flop as i dont think it was, it started off good but the affair was just too expected and typical of her, interesting to see whats next when she returns.

I think Cindy's initial return was good - as was the return of Peter and Ian/ building the Beales back up. It just took a bit of a nose-dive when she started to sleep with Junior and then we had the who whacked Cindy storyline? Although part of that might be that Junior is such a dull character.

Hopefully when she returns they'll be something a little different aside from countless affairs.

Yeah it was different! Its good though that the storyline is progressing. Block story telling hasn't been great for it, what with Tommy, Kat and Alfie being largely absent for months. But the scenes this week/ last between the three have been good. Although Alfie in OTT mode is fairly grating.

Dunno where its going to go after that reveal though.

Yeah unsure if my original theory was correct and Tommy's just lying or if they're actually doing a loneliness storyline with AI, hmm.

Jumping in on the Cindy return discussion, I thought her return was good as well, weaving in with the Knights, who were also reasonably new at the time.

Even when she started the affair with Junior it was okay. I remember her giving a look as she walked away from him at the beginning and you could see she hadn't changed her spots.

But having the big Christmas Day storyline of being whacked over the head, only to spend weeks going around accusing everyone in turn and then for it to be revealled as Kathy seconds after Ian had revealled it was Peter was just a bit of an "is that it?" moment.

I don't know what else they can do with her character though, apart from have her sleep with one guy after another and try to kill Ian now and again.

I'm with you, apparently EastEnders are working with the Parents of Breck Bednar which would imply they're maybe planning a story about grooming. I've not fact checked that though, just something I read in some comments so idk but it would make sense, this storyline has to go somewhere right?

That was just somebody lying lol, I think it might be a lie but idk, I’m inclined to think that the AI thing is just it because the alternative would involve them actually giving Kat a storyline which they seem totally allergic to

The ENRIEE Bianca conclusion was botched, ever since she escaped, we didn't see how, and nobody battered an eye at her deinking her own urine for weeks ro survive.

Junior is an arrocious character. Dull as dishwater. Him and Cindy was mind-numbingly boring. Then, to make it worse, the Walfoed Whacker storyline was ATROCIOUS. It srill makes 0 sense rhst Kathy dif it ... and even less that Kathy and Ian couldn't give each other alibies. There was zero proof. Even is she recorded it... she wss holding a gun lol. Inadmissable. And then she would be charged for: shooring Ian, holding rhen hostage, causing manslaughter and a crash and the desteuxrion of rhe Vic. Soooo... Terrible wriring. Absolutely terrible.

Brenda has certainly been missing in all of this. I wonder how she will still make Sonia feel like shit.

Kathy and Harvey just make so much sense, idk why they paired him with Jean in the first place tbh

This side of Teddy has definitely been bubbling away in the background. There's been little flashes of it but you can see he doesn't like that side of him so buries it deep down.

So frustrating that Harvey just won’t end things with Jean. She really is disgusting to him and he’s just trying to be nice. He has so much more chemistry with Kathy anyway.

I don’t mind Teddy, I was glad to see him let rip tonight as the nice guy thing always felt like an act.

I don’t like Zack being Barney’s dad though. Teddy and Barney seemed quite well cast as father and son and it just feels like they ran out of ideas for Zack. He’s being quite selfish deciding he has a right to be part of Barney’s life after not even knowing he existed 5 minutes ago.
