7th place was quite a good finish for my song. Thanks to all who voted for it. The Art Of Noise finished at the end of the 80s but this song was from their comeback in 1999 and was part of a concept album about the composer Claude Debussy so anyone who liked 'Metaforce' might like to listen to the whole album to see how it fits in. John Hurt did the narration on the album and can be heard briefly on my entry.

Well done Nate, a very convincing win (glad it would have just won despite Chez’s deduction too) but a fantastic song so it’s deserved. Pleased to see The Art of Noise in the top ten, a brilliant discovery! The Dust Brothers deserved better and it’s quite a shock to see The Prodigy last.

 

13th isn’t too shabby for mine, I wasn’t really sure how it would do but I’m happy with that! Thanks to the voters!

Very sorry I missed the reveal live, I had forgotten this was happening until it had already been going for a lil while and then I needed to pop out for a bit anyway so thought I'd just leave it and catch up at the end.

 

Congrats Nate on a second win in a row, new king of the dance forum :cheeseblock: That is the song that I think I'd have pegged as the favourite to win so no surprise there but I am a bit surprised at that being your entry, I was almost certain that 2hollis would have been yours! Wasn't far off with the vibe check on that since you gave it 12 points as well, Kath absolutely serving and I did still give Interplanetary Criminal a few points too (actually went up a couple of places in my ranking after my relisten).

 

I voted for the whole of the top 8 so not much to complain about here! I wish I'd reminded Chez about this before he went on holiday oops, as soon as I saw he hadn't voted yet as of the listenthrough I knew he'd be coming for a deduction, and I knew it was gonna be Pale Blue because who else would have sent them / Chez self-recycling in anon contests as per usual :kink: but that was another brilliant song from them, even better than the one that got robbed in BJSC so yay for them being appreciated more here, another honorary addition to the Chez bridesmaid entries collection and wow that it still managed to finish top 3 even after the deduction. 'Diamond Shovel' is a banger too so a nice one to take the silver. Fantastic to see my 12 from Kerth also finishing in the top 5 (much higher than I'd have expected with it being the most rap forum-oriented song on the list) and a brilliant spoken word track from Dobbo rounding it out :clap: Art Of Noise also doing better than I'd have predicted to make the top 10, and yay good results for two bangers from Leww and Doctor B which both also grew on me on the second listen!

 

Of my other two votes, 'Exploration' still finishing in the top half as well so not bad, and then... oops poor brave The Prodigy coming dead last, although even I only gave it 1 point so not too surprised at it not lighting up the scoreboard, I'm probably never going to not support The Prodigy but this is definitely not one of their better songs in fairness.

 

I'm very happy to have managed to avoid the bottom 5! I did think people might be put off by the vocals (was surprised no one commented on that during SyncTube but Kath posting it in the thread, fair enough :kink: they are a little rough but I've always thought that adds some charm to it x) so was fully anticipating to be a wooden spoon contender. Thanks Nate for providing me with a medal position right at the end *.* and thanks Ansel, Jade, Wardy, AllStar, Snake, Cow and Doctor B for the other points, not bad not bad. It's a song I stumbled across probably back in 2017 and kept in my back pocket as a potential risky BJSC entry, obviously never got around to that but it's stuck with me as a song that I occasionally go back to every now and then over the years. I went to do a RateYourMusic search to find an entry for this and saw the Antoha MC album was in the top 10 of all time for the hip-house genre and felt that was a sign to finally get it out there and also saved me the effort of searching for a new song.

 

Funnily enough I noticed that Antoha very recently released a second music video for the song which has cats in it :cheeseblock: but I didn't send in the new video because a) the OG video with the mesmerising and infectious dancing girls is kind of iconic anyway and b) the new video uses a slightly different and lower energy mix of the song for some reason (still with the same lo-fi vocal mix though lol).

Whoever does host... I'm just going to say this much that there is a theme we really need to do that hasn't been done here before so I think we will come for that next time... it's one a few of you know and were anticipating too.

Well that went... about as poorly as I expected - good job I decided against sending this song to BJSC, how many 21st places do I need? (Along with 11ths and 16ths.) Nice to have 7 voters though, thanks all, especially Addy for 8 and Rollo for 7.

Congrats Nate! Deserved tbh as it was lovely to see a more rap focused contest when that sound doesn't often get its chance to shine on this site. I apparently saved "I Walk Alone With Acid" to my library ages back, I think probably when I was looking for a previous Club Bizarre entry so I'm glad it did well along with the rest of a quite stunningly good top 5!

Well done Y'all Starlight the catchy 1, 2, 3 chorus of 'No Time' reminds me of BL3SS - Kisses lyrically.

Sorry again that I just went AWOL for this contest, I completely forgot about it after rushing to enter on day one - glad Antony did okay, despite the deduction - it's something I picked up from RFC's personal chart a while back and was the first thing I thought of when I saw the theme - I ended up digging out a few more of his songs and I quite like him, the vibe isn't entirely serious but he seems like a fun artist

Woop woop congrats Y'all on back to back wins! Safe to say you've "cracked" this now eh? And not just winning 2 in a row but absolutely DOMINATING both contests (ok this time the runner-up had a deduction but still).

 

I'm very pleased with another top 5 finish. My entry definitely stood out amongst the pack so could have really gone any way but I see the high scores I was banking on helped it climb the standings. I was really after another entry like Faces of Horror from the 70s and 80s edition and I'm glad to have found one not too dissimilar. And sandwiched between my fave 2 entries so I can't grumble!

 

But WTAF @ The Prodigy last?! Some tastebuds were found missing with that result.

Thank you for hosting Nate and well done on your triumphant win! One of my absolutely FAVE songs of the year. Now I'll be wondering what I could've done with it in BJSC!! I didn't think anything else would run it close, so interesting to see Chez Wombat come REALLY close with another great entry - two really good examples of the genre. Well done Cody on his 2nd place - a great tune even though they are definitely about to be sued for sneaking in so much Tainted Love (if they haven't credited Soft Cell...). Happy with 6th, it was something I'd saved for BJSC before but never got around to it - shame to be 7 points away from 2nd (especially as I don't really have a lot of Club Bizarre success!).

Ah shoot, I knew there was something I forgot to do before I left :cry: I remembered BJSC and intended to do this too, but by the time this thread came up, I was completely consumed with packing/Olympiics to remember, and I had very limited internet away. So sorry </3

 

But I am absolutely thrilled with 3rd/2nd pre-deduction, thank you all so much :wub: I indeed still wasn't over Breathe flopping in BJSC and this seemed a good fit for the other side of the EP. This one's more menacing in tone than the other one, but they both work incredibly well as an unsettling, harrowing insight into the psyche of a victim of sexual and domestic abuse combined with a subtle yet gradually building acid house soundscape adding to the intensity. Can certainly say that's a good bit of justice done x (and I think I'd much prefer distant 3rd to being one point away from winning, less blood boiling x)

 

Congrats on the second win, Nate and great job hosting, song sounded decent from the play just now. I promise I will be a good voter next time, though for the best it's not passing down directly to me to host :kink:

Honestly, the results of my entry is rather surprising. I mean, it's big room house / Afrojack's Dutch house and all people agreed the genre is already dead before it was even born. :lol: Not to mention most of these entries are sounding like club bangers and Boiler Room gems!
