  • It is an odd choice but I think Tom Grennan will feel bigger to young people.

Tom Grennan headlining makes it even odder that they decided to snub ‘Shadowboxing!’ I thought that he was going to start to struggle to get R1 support from now on but obviously I’m wrong!

Have they done a Live Lounge day before? I'm curious how far back in time they'll go for that.
I don’t regularly listen to Radio 1 anymore but whenever I do put it on, all I ever hear the presenters say is “send a WhatsApp and let me know what you’re up to today /this weekend” and then it’s just endless shoutouts, even during the chart, midweeks, 00s/2010s show, Anthems. I just don’t understand how anyone finds that interesting or entertaining to listen to? In the battle against streaming services you’d think radio stations would be upping their game to provide content worth listening to. I only listen during weekends really so maybe week days are different but has anyone else noticed this?

I'm not sure they have, well not in recent years anyway but it's not an easy thing to Google to confirm  on Chillout Anthems recently they've played some classic Live Lounges and went back as far as 2004!

I jumped to Radio 2 last year when I realised that I wasn’t enjoying the music anymore and all the presenters seemed to do was shout. I think I’d only really listen to Greg James now on Radio 1. :yahoo:

It was always a running joke with Matt and Mollie when they did Party Anthems on a Friday (perhaps more Matt) that they were just doing shoutouts for an hour

So tomorrow they'll also be counting down the Top 25 Live Lounge performances throughout the day. Bets are on for #1 then, I'd imagine it's Amy Winehouse - Valerie or perhaps Adele - Promise This or Arctic Monkeys - Love Machine? Should be a good listen regardless

Some of the Christmas ones were classics but not sure they will count for this!

How long has the live lounge been going for?

Harry Styles’ cover of ‘The Chain’ also comes to mind as a contender.
Do we know what the rankings are based on?
Lauren Layfield mentioned something about the Radio 1 presenters getting to vote, so I'm guessing a combination of all of their votes.

How long has the live lounge been going for?
I believe they said 25 years!

I believe the announcement of SOPHIE's posthumous release was kept quiet until it was announced so it's not been that long since we've had one. My head was going towards Oasis but I feel like a bigger deal would've been made about it by Jack had it been true

SOPHIE was listed at the planned Hottest Record for tomorrow night before the description was changed.

Yeah I reckon is SOPHIE again, that was originally listed as the hottest record for tomorrow and the last posthumous release was kept quiet too.

Any Oasis new or unreleased music would have been announced along with the tour yesterday I think.
