Oh wow get that promo Sophie!

How many songs does the NYE act usually sing? :o

Not sure of song amount but it’s usually 20-30 mins either side of midnight.

Great choice! I can remember she did Graham Norton on NYE a few years ago and her greatest hits re entered off the back of it, hopefully there will be a bigger effect this time round.

Rick Astley did 18 songs last year it seems!

Let’s hope she doesn’t make it full of her iamspamspamamicovers and does her own music.

Innit I don’t want to hear My Favourite Things!

If this hasn't already been pointed out, this song reminds me of Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer!

Ok that's a promising amount of time to run through her back catalogue. :D I'm hoping for:

Groovejet

Take Me Home

Murder on the Dancefloor obvs

I Won't Change You

Catch You

Me & My Imagination

Bittersweet

Freedom of the Night

Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer

Doesn't she like high key despise 'I Won't Change You'? I'll eat my foot of that gets performed 🙈

She did an interview with the OCC in 2020

“The lyrics in the second verse are really bad: ‘I used to change my style like I changed my mind / I tried to change a tyre but I’m not that way inclined / Tried to change my figure, my diet too / I’ll still change my underwear if that’s okay with you.’

“They weren’t even holding lyrics; all I remember is that I’d just started going out with Richard, I was very distracted,” laughs Sophie. “I thought, I’ll do a song with comedy in it, but comedy is tricky, isn’t it?

“I feel bad because I think the chorus deserved a better verse, I don’t mind the chorus at all,” she muses. “The video is pretty cringey as well. That blonde hair!”

Aww, I guess she has a point. I still associate it with good memories of watching the music channels as a kid. Maybe she could just do the chorus or rewrite the verses lol? :kink:

Do it as part of a medley, that way she only needs to sing the chorus. :)

Can't we also have her disco version of Crying At The Discotheque too!

I mean this would be the dream, throw in some covers like Crying at the discotheque and you got a great New Years night there.

HOWEVER she hates I won't change you, to the extent that she pretends she is unable to get the backing music to perform it on her tours  so there is no chance. Shame as I legit adore that track!

I'll never forget that infamous episode of Buzzcocks where Simon Amstell was reading out lyrics for her to guess, he read out a line from 'I Won't Change You' and she initially didn't even recognise it

Then said "I don't do that one anymore"

Sophie sounded great covering 'Like A Prayer' and the blonde woman in the choir had a powerful voice too.

Very fun show and the Jake Shears performances were also really good.

Absolutely enjoyed that performance very much, and here's hoping that a few million caught some of Freedom Of The Night which was performed a minute to midnight.

She was enjoyable to watch on the New Year performance.

She looks well, I like that. Many great songs choices that suit her singing too.

I really enjoyed her so a little disappointed to see stories in the sun saying how people thought she was breathless an awkward on stage.
She was brilliant on the tv! I loved her positive energy throughout and so many good choices - loved the transition from Lady to Groovejet especially! It’s a shame she couldn’t sneak in Me & My Imagination but she obviously stuck to her biggest hits and her more recent releases which makes sense.

They're quoting 3 people on X - it's a total non story.
