Apologies, I had to nip out!

10. The Beatles - Hey Jude

This is the one I'd have picked as the most correctly guessed and indeed a whopping 18 of you recognised it! Will there be any 19s or 20s though?

Two points (18/20): CowTzy, Mack., Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, Bjork, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, Riser, King Rollo, chrissmith276, rio309, uptempo_owww!, jimwatts, paulgilb, JulianT

11. Bon Jovi - Someday I'll Be Saturday Night

OK I really didn't think anyone at all would get this one! I deliberately took a lesser known song, picked an obscure part in the middle of it and slowed it right down, and yet three people still recognised it - massive respect!

Maybe it helped that I included the 'Someday I'll Be Saturday Night' vocal?

Two points (3/20): dandy*, Jade, JulianT

12. Madness - One Step Beyond

This was Madness's first top ten single back in 1979 and many of you correctly identified it as Madness, although not all of you got the correct song title.

Two points (8/20): Mack., gooddelta, dandy*, Jade, King Rollo, uptempo_owww!, jimwatts, paulgilb

One point (3/20): Dobbo, Roba., awardinary

13. Madonna - Music

And last but not least, we have the Queen of Pop with her second number one of the 2000s which, even played backwards, was recognisable to most people.

Two points (18/20): Mack., Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, awardinary, Bjork, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, Riser, King Rollo, chrissmith276, rio309, uptempo_owww!, jimwatts, paulgilb, JulianT

Definitely never heard that Bon Jovi song, I was racking my brain for days about it and thought it sounded familiar, but it wouldn't have done and I'd have never even guessed the artist. Well done to Dandy*, Jade and Julian for identifying that.

The others in that lot were easy enough for me, that Madness intro is quite a memorable one, even sped up it's identifiable.

Wow surprised anyone got that Bon Jovi song lol and I'm a big fan of them generally too. That was the hardest one for sure. I'm sure I have heard it a couple of times but it's not an immediate "oh that ones of theirs" get for me. In fact I did think it could have been 'Bed of Roses' at one stage and then left it at no guess oops.

Beatles and Madonna easy again and Madness is unmistakable really but couldn't come to a title for that either oops.

And now for the bonus parts, and let's start with the connection!

Well there were two songs whose title contained the word "Hey", and as if that wasn't enough of a giveaway, there was Belinda Carlisle on track 3 literally shouting "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!"

The connection was of course that the lyrics to all of those songs begin with the word "Hey".

Specifically:

Billy Ocean - Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car: Hey (hey), you (you), get in to my car

Metallica - Sad But True: Hey (hey), I'm your life, I'm the one who takes you there

Belinda Carlisle - (We Want) The Same Thing: Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey - Closer: Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you

Avicii - Hey Brother: Hey brother, there's an endless road to rediscover

Billy Idol - White Wedding: Hey little sister, what have you done?

Of Monsters & Men - Little Talks: Hey! Hey! Hey!

Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me): Hey, hey, hey, hey

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend

The Beatles - Hey Jude: Hey Jude, don't make it bad

Bon Jovi - Someday I'll Be Saturday Night: Hey, man, I'm alive, I'm taking each day and night at a time

Madness - One Step Beyond: Hey you, don't watch that, watch this

Madonna - Music: Hey Mr DJ, put a record on, I wanna dance with my baby

Exactly half of you got the full connection, so well done to the ten people who bag themselves an extra 8 points:

Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, Bjork, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Riser, uptempo_owww!, jimwatts, JulianT

I'm awarding 4 points to those who said that the songs all include "hey" in the lyrics but not specifically mentioning that the "hey" was the first lyric in the song:

CowTzy, King Rollo

Glad I got the hey thing eventually, even though it took ages to come to me.

Initially, I thought it was something to do with cars in the music videos, as at least half I checked seemed to feature a car, and there was that engine rev noise in the first song

Same here. Cars featured in a fair share of the songs but hey being the common link is humorous lol.

Thanks for running this Mango. Another fun one.

hey being the common link is humorous lol.

Well I was basically saying to myself tried to do this quiz... "Hey-ey-ey, Hey-ey-ey. I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"

And now for the most and least correctly guessed...

Three songs were correctly identified by 18/20 of you, and these were 7 (Little Talks), 10 (Hey Jude) and 13 (Music).

So anyone that put 7, 10 or 13 for this question bags themselves an extra 2 points:

Mack, Roba., dandy*, Ansel, King Rollo, jimwatts, paulgilb, JulianT

The least correctly guessed song was number 2 ('Sad But True' by Metallica) which only dandy* got correct - I 100% would have put Bon Jovi for this one and indeed most people agreed with me and went for no. 11!

The only person to go for track 2 was chrissmith276, so he bags himself an extra 2 points.

And finally, let's find out who was the nearest for what percentage will get the full connection.

We had quite a range of guesses in for this, ranging from Ansel who went for 5% to CowTzy who went for 96.2%!

As already mentioned, 10/20 got the connection, which is 50%.

And it's gooddelta with 48% and Jade with 52% who are both closest and for this they bag themselves an extra 2 points!

Oh excellent :cheer: I completely fumbled the most guessed one so I'm happy that I picked up extra points there instead (on top of the connection of course - it was so satisfying when it clicked )

Well done dandy*, great effort, and congrats to gooddelta and Jade too for a podium finish!

I’m certainly used to 2nd!

Well done Dandy, Herculean effort! And thanks for a very entertaining quiz Mango, one which took me ages but was fun to work out.

Congratulations Dandy on the win! I'm chuffed with 3rd, I didn't think the quiz had gone too badly or anything but definitely wasn't expecting to finish that high.

Thanks for a fun round, Mango ^_^

Wow, 8th place is much better than I expected. After seeing the answers, there's none that I feel I should've got but didn't, most were songs I don't know except Billy Ocean and Billy Idol. So I'm quite satisfied with that.

Congrats dandy* and thanks Mango for hosting!

Kudos to anyone who got Q11, I did think the backing sounded like that kind of rock, but the vocals were unrecognisable and I never would have guessed it was that song!

Very happy with 4th, congrats Dandy on the win! Thanks Mango for a fun quiz!

wow amazed I didn't finish last, too difficult this game for me

but @Mango I thought I had out Music as most recognized song?

Oh yay! I didn’t get to check the final results yesterday but I thought that my useless guessing for bonus points could scupper my chances, glad it didn’t ^_^

Thanks for hosting again Mango. It was definitely a nice twist on the usual format and some of them took some figuring out
