November 21, 2024Nov 21 Wretch 32 is one that come to mind just now and will put down here. Wasn't fussed on his music myself but he had several hits and then nothing after '6 Words' in 2014!

November 22, 2024Nov 22 Does anyone still care for MØ? She put out new music this year but I don't think she's got much of a following these days. kKPIJ9vrqMA
November 22, 2024Nov 22 No don't think so, she's likely had her time. Maybe a high profile feature to remind everyone she's still around?
November 22, 2024Nov 22 Wretch 32 in a roundabout way reminded me of Example. He basically went from being huge and everywhere in 2011, to essentially being chopped liver by 2013. Although I think like many artists of that era, the introduction of streaming completely killed him off as he did manage one last fleeting top 5 hit just before it was introduced. (Shame as quite a few of his later releases have been absolutely brilliant and went by completely unnoticed)
November 28, 2024Nov 28 Whatever happened to Bru-C? He seemed tipped for success and then just dropped off the radar altogether after a couple of dance features. OvureZfa7AI

To that end as well, Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk probably also fit under this; massive success and number ones left right and centre in 2009. Both then returned with follow ups either 2010 or 2011 but bar Chipmunk ("Champion" with Chris Brown) neither had hits or success to the same scale as previously. I actually saw Tinchy just last year supporting JLS. He was awesome!
January 15Jan 15 I think Hear'Say fell off quicker than that. I'd say about the time it took from someone buying the album to someone listening to it. !!!!!

January 15Jan 15 Does anyone still care for MØ? She put out new music this year but I don't think she's got much of a following these days. kKPIJ9vrqMA Her success was a detriment to her career — she (or her label) wasted too much time trying to chase it when she was in the process of cultivating a fanbase that didn't want that in the first place, and then they moved on.
January 15Jan 15 From the same era as Cheryl Cole. They couldn't translate to the streamkng market and fell off. I think there was more to it than that for Cheryl, when she released in 2014 before streaming properly got going it's clear the wheels were falling off anyway. Then she went away for 4 years, which was A) too long and B) the entire market/climate had changed.

When she returned in 2018 I felt like she basically gave up after Love Made Me Do It.
January 15Jan 15 She did get two #1 singles in 2014 though. The second of which spent a month in the top 40, the album flopped and the next single didn't even chart upon single release.
January 16Jan 16 Cheryl wasn't pumping out hit singles quick enough, or long enough, to sustain how poor her first two albums were — and then the industry changed without her. I know quality doesn't equate to success but I honestly cannot think of two worse big pop albums from one artist — in succession!
January 17Jan 17 I didn't read the whole thread but Macklemore came to my mind recently. I think it fits the criteria of one huge era and then vanish!!!
January 17Jan 17 Sigrid Undeservedly I hasten to add, especially as the second album's material was a real improvement :( Still, I think it's not unusual for an act of her type to only have fleeting success commercially like she did anyway.
