Can we swap Gaga and Abrams around?

No, Gaga’s song is very dated; not suprised the mass market aren’t listening to it; it’s just 25+ year olds

That would be the majority of the market (and isn't Gaga your nan's favourite artist anyway, according to the UK chart show)

#64 Wham!

#72 Mariah

Looks like it's Joever for Mariah already - last year they swapped over 2 days later (albeit that was also the first Monday in Nov)

I came to say exactly the same thing: I predicted Wham! would take the lead on the first Monday of November. Tbf it appears Wham! held the lead during October. It’s mostly Mariah’s self promotion that gives her a couple of days in the lead - but then again if it wasn’t for Mariah, the world probably wouldn’t be listening to Christmas music at such a high level so early in the season.

Not that I'm condoning his words, but he did actually say DWAS was "your nan's favourite song" rather than Gaga being "your nan's favourite artist"

Exactly my point she is making dated music. She’s very lucky to rely on duets with huge stars who help the duet perform well; without them she wouldn’t have had any hits in about a decade.

The majority of the market would be making universal music

Bruno didn’t have a hit in 7 years before DWAS. Her star power is far bigger than Bruno’s.

I'd say both Bruno and Gaga contributed to the success of Die, sure Bruno didn't go 7 years without a hit

Also the song is a Bruno song 100% done and finished that Gaga jumped on, so the style of the song is very retro and very un-Gaga, very 100% Bruno

it's a bit drafty in this thread, did somebody leave the door open...? 🤨

Bruno in the last 7 years:

Finesse/5 Bruno Mars & Cardi B

Wake up in the sky/65 Gucci Mane ft Bruno Mars

Please me/12 Cardi B & Bruno Mars

Leave the door open/20 Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars & Paak Anderson

Skate/45 Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars & Paak Anderson

Smokin’out the window/12 Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars & Paak Anderson

Fly as me/49 Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars & Paak Anderson

When I Was Your Man/48 (re-entry)

Die with a Smile/2 Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars

APT/2 Rosé & Bruno Mars

Leave A Door Open feels SO much bigger than #20! That deserved a far higher peak!

Bruno is a master hit maker. He's in the ilk of Adele & Ed in that he doesn't have a "core" fanbase but he has a shit ton of mass appeal, imo. Like, there are very few casuals who will say they don't "love" him. If you were to mention his songs to someone they'd be all over it.

He's by FAR the best male star we have, imo.

It's a bit hard to say for Bruno though, especially as he hasn't released a traditional/regular studio album since 2016.

I dare say these two current hits will set him up very well though.

Yeah, in terms of chart success, I think to say Gaga’s star power carried someone like Bruno Mars is a bit of a stretch. She obviously is a star but he’s certainly got quite the wealth of success behind him too, that’s never felt like it’s waned hugely.

Also, I don't think it's fair to say all of DWAS success is down to him...

It's one of the most radio friendly, easy to listen to, ready made hits of the year. It appeals to precisely every demographic. I'm not *too* big on the song personally, I like it but I don't go out of my way to listen to it etc.., but I definitely understand how it's been such a huge hit.

Leave a door Open was a US @1 I think

And I’d argue Flowers kept his name out there too ;)

Its longevity was pretty decent tbf - made #68 on the YE which was definitely higher than some songs which out-peaked it

Perhaps not such a hit in the UK but ‘Talking to the Moon’ went viral globally at the start of this decade

Yeah album track 'Talking to the Moon' has an impressive 1.5 billion streams on Spotify!

Today I learned that 'It Will Rain' is in the billionaire club too

Have to agree, it's not a particularly bad song but to me just feels like it could quite easily have been released on Born this Way or The fame
