In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x

If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez).

For the first time there was a tie for the best vote in the last poll as both 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'Let It Be' got 6 votes. I considered making a flash poll to separate them but it was getting a little close to the start time of the new session (imagine me ever preparing far enough in advance to avoid this problem!) so I instead just gave the discretion to pick the winner to Bjork who showed up on SyncTube without having voted here, and he chose 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', so a second poll win for Simon & Garfunkel (and none for The Beatles) it is. Based on comments on SyncTube I think that's the way a flash poll would have gone anyway. There was also a three way tie for third place behind this pair, with Carpenters' '(They Long To Be) Close To You', George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord' and Edwin Starr's 'War' each earning 4 votes. There was a clear winner for the worst poll at least as The Osmonds' 'One Bad Apple' got 5 votes, ahead of Sly & The Family Stone's 'Everybody Is A Star' and Ray Stevens' 'Everything Is Beautiful' which got 4 and 3 votes respectively as the positivity of their titles was not returned by the voters.

We return to a full length list this week covering the 255th through 297th #1s (43 #1s but 45 songs including two double A-Sides), spanning from mid June 1971 (Carole King's 'It's Too Late' / 'I Feel The Earth Move') to the end of June 1973 (George Harrison's 'Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)'). I plan to host a regularly scheduled session again next week so this thread will stay open for a week and I'll try and be more cognisant this time of any potential ties for the win :kink:

My votes for this week:

Best:

Bill Withers - Lean On Me

Don McLean - American Pie

Elton John - Crocodile Rock

Stevie Wonder - Superstition

The Temptations - Papa Was A Rollin' Stone

I did like most of this week's songs but after looking back on the list there weren't actually that many that I loved, there are a few here that are undeniable classics but don't particularly appeal to me personally that much - giving a nod to The Temptations as a great discovery (in its full length form), pushing out James Taylor.

Worst:

Chuck Berry - My Ding-A-Ling

Donny Osmond - Go Away Little Girl

Mac Davis - Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me

Three pretty easy picks for me here. The Mac Davis song isn't as bad as the other two but it was still pretty naff.

Best:

Al Green - Let's Stay Together

Bill Withers - Lean On Me

Don McLean - American Pie

Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now

Worst:

Chuck Berry - My Ding-A-Ling

Worst

This was going to be the first week where the winner was more than 1 vote ahead of the runner-up but the last couple of votes have restored the traditional 1 vote gap! (I was worried for a second it was about to make it a tie again )
