At least I wasn’t last when presenting (just) – commiserations Scene at just one point behind. I would also like to thank King Rollo for his help with the Spotify playlist and listen through.

I realised I already knew 2 Wicky from a past CD swap, good song with a lot of wonderful absurd imagery, sadly just missed my votes.

 

Loved that whole top 3 so would be fine with all of them, but rooting for Bre for that change in fortunes x

Good to have such a close race here, even if it is a tad bittersweet that I lost the lead so close to the end and indeed doubly shot myself in the foot as both Archive and Faithless beat me by less than the number of points I gave them :lol: but I certainly can't complain at losing out to 2 of my medallists and getting by far my best ever result as I hoped for so thanks again to all of the voters, getting 5 12s is wild! I'm sure I'll be back to my regular flopping next time but I did have a really good feeling when I found this song so it's nice to have that validated (found this one the same way I found my entry to the last one of these, filtering top albums on RateYourMusic by genre and year range, scrolling down until I see suitably obscure artist names and then sampling a few random songs, this was one that I picked out due to being mentioned as a highlight by someone who left a review so thanks to that person xx).

 

Well done Addy picking up another well deserved win here (3 out of 7, truly the Aeroche of this contest!) Also a great result there for Smoke City although I must point out again that ties are meant to be done by number of votes which may or may not flip it out of the top 5 :kink: Aw that the other two of my top 4 both ended up just barely missing the top 10 though.

I didn't know the song previously, it was a discovery worthy of my bronze. I voted for the entire top 7 *.* great to see my other medallists in 4th and 5th, and my 6 pointer in 6th. Jah Wobble was my 7 pointer and I'd have liked to see that higher (even if it was the only Top 40 hit here, it was a minor one), though I didn't listen to the Spotify playlist until late on and realised that was a different version (again, probably too late).

 

I've been just about proved wrong about a bottom half finish so I'll take it - that's my 11th top 10 in a song contest on Buzzjack, with 5 of them coming in this forum. It's my favourite Air song, at least jointly with 'Sexy Boy', and I almost sent it as a replacement for 'The Box' after its veto early last year - kind of glad I didn't with how it panned out, but I'm pleased it still found some big fans!

Just quickly checked and both tiebreaks should be the other way round :jump: (One Dove 12 votes / Smoke City 11 votes, Scorn 9 votes / Casino Versus Japan 8 votes).

Ooh hooray a top 5 then x Clearly my fans were silent this edition, but thank you all for the votes for this criminally forgotten almost top 40 hit. Only my second big hit here after my win, song contests being kind to me this week x

 

I loved how the Archives song developed as it went along, almost as good as Bullets in BJSC, a clear highlight and the other two were great, weird and wonderful finds. No complaints although 11th and 12th deserved much higher x

Addy just knows how to be retro, he's the oracle of all things historic and when it comes to finding great songs he just does it time and time again. Who can deny him his third victory already in this contest! Congrats!

I'm dealing with all kinds of emotions today after the election result, but this one feels really good. I truly appreciate everyone's vote!!!

 

And as Rollo mentioned, this was last minute find from the archives (:kink) after embarrassingly sent a song that was sent here before lol, but I just didn't make any connection to it.

 

I can't wait to host the next edition <3 and I have a great theme in my mind!!! (watch me failing to deliver).

Congrats Addy, definitely now marking yourself as the Retro Song Contest king with 3 wins in 7 contests!

 

Not one I voted for but there were only a couple of bad tracks in this edition. Now Faithless & Locust both being top 3 is something I can get behind, what an amazing song the latter is - great find Bré (and woohoo for the 12-pointer swap!)

 

I was hoping for another top 10 in this but but only 1 point off so never mind. Hilarious to get three 12's but also three 1's :lol: thanks to Jade, Chez & Bré for the big pointage. I kinda had you 3 down as the would-be biggest fans and that certainly proved correct ^_^

Thanks for running this Jester, congrats Addy, and thanks to Madonna voters! It was a track I'd never heard and liked while I was looking for something obscure to send. My default track was the brilliant Sneaker Pimps 6 Underground, but I figured it was too well known (and a bit of a classic) to send. But if you don't know it check it out.... :wub:

'6 Underground' is a classic but would have been an automatic veto as it made the Top 10 (#9 on re-release in 1997).
