Hello and welcome to the sophomore song contest hosted in the 21st Century Throwback forum - it's time for Bop Idol 2! :welcome:

In time-honoured tradition, as the winner of the inaugural contest, I've agreed to host this follow-up edition - so my first song contest win anywhere on Buzzjack is followed by my first time hosting one! :hi:

 

The theme I have chosen for this contest is... Bring The Drama! :drama:

 

 

This time, we're looking for songs released from 2000 onwards of any genre, but where the song has some sort of switch-up midway through - whether it be a tempo shift, significant start or end section, or a good old-fashioned key change!

 

For some examples of songs which fit the musical theme, think: JADE - Angel Of My Dreams with the slowed down start and end sections, Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out which starts off fast and drops the pace after the first minute, or Beyoncé - Love On Top with its multitude of key changes (although just one would do here). However all three songs would fail on other criteria, so please don't choose those :kink: Specifically, the contest aims to promote relatively unknown songs that did not become big hits in the UK, and we encourage artists that may not have many hits in their back catalogue.

 

As with any other song contest on Buzzjack, there are rules and guidelines, and here they are:

 

1. Only songs from the year 2000 or later are allowed.

2. The song must not have reached the Top 10 in the Official UK Singles Chart.

3. The artist must not have an Artist Forum on Buzzjack.

4. The song must not have been entered into the previous Bop Idol song contest.

5. The song must not have been a top 20 hit in another song contest on the site. However, any song that has previously been entered into these contests may still be vetoed, especially if recent.

6. Any other song that we feel is at an unfair advantage (e.g. huge commercial hit or well-known on the forum) will still be vetoed at host / mod discretion.

7. As this is a Throwback forum, it is encouraged, but not required, that entries are from a nostalgic time period, ideally up to 2015, however, anything released later may still be acceptable.

8. Artists may have no more than one entry per contest, so first come first served.

 

This is an anonymous song contest, so no revealing or hinting as your entry until the voting period begins!

 

The confirmation window will be open for a full week, so you have until 23:59 GMT on Saturday 16th November 2024 to submit your entry.

Oh this is an interesting idea for a theme albeit one that could be pretty hard to search for hmm, probably better not leave looking for an entry to the final day this time :lol:

 

(guess we're gonna be having 3 song contests at once again, at least it's one less than last month :kink:)

The easiest decisions I've ever made submitting songs in a contests (both Club Bizarre and in here), and yeah I am bringing in the drama :drama:

Yes that's a good one! I may not be too strict on the definition, but I'll listen through everything that comes in and only if it sticks out as not fitting the theme would I refuse it on those grounds.

I’m sure you can ask to be defaulted back to your current choice if your new artist is taken. :)

Entered something I was probably most leaning towards sending to UP but it certainly fits the bill here too!

Aww man I need to have a think about this. I have something from 2014 but doubt it would transfer into votes.
