Hello and welcome to the voting stage of the sophomore song contest hosted in the 21st Century Throwback forum - Bop Idol 2! :welcome:

 

The theme of the contest is... Bring The Drama! :drama:

 

 

Here I asked for songs which have some sort of switch-up midway through - thank you to the 20 people who have sent in a song that they feel represents this theme! A wide variety of entries from 2000 right up to 2016 were selected.

 

As always, please do not reveal or hint at your entry until the results are announced - this is an anonymous contest... but do feel free to speculate what people may have sent!

 

Below are the 20 songs that were confirmed, randomly generated in to the following order:

 

 

Voting is now open - please use the dedicated Google Form linked below. The points scoring system is as follows: 12 points will be awarded to your favourite, 10 to your second favourite, and then descending from 8 to 1 for your third through to your tenth favourite. For obvious reasons, please do not vote for your song!

 

The provisional deadline for voting will be 23:59 GMT on Friday 29th November 2024 - however I may push this back a day or two, depending on the timings of other song contest activities :D I will look to host a listenthrough on SyncTube at some point before then.

 

This contest is open for anyone to vote, so for anyone who hasn't sent a song or forgot or missed out in sending one, you are welcome to take part - please feel free to listen and send in your vote too.

I know 6 of the artists featured in this contest but none of the songs so intrigued to hear them! And :cheeseblock: at Solange featuring!

Most of the song titles are giving a real halloween theme lol

 

Can't wait to listen to all of those...and I can actually guess who sent what just based on artist choices, I could be wrong though!!!

Excited for this! I love a good mid-song switch up!

It's an interesting selection, and it's going to be fun seeing reactions to certain songs.

This list is a bit more alt-leaning than I was expecting but not complaining!

There are a couple of songs here that I already know and am a fan of although it's clearly been a while since I last heard them as I can't say I immediately remember what element of them qualifies as a switchup...! Some other interesting artist choices as well ~

Turns out there were a couple more songs here that I've already heard than I thought - one song in particular was a blast of nostalgia that I just didn't recognise from the title!

 

Good batch of songs anyway and reasonably diverse on the whole (even if some parts of the listenthrough felt like an edition of Nuggets haha), I did expect there to be more pop songs than there were though. When I was trying to think of a direction to go in for this contest I had to keep reminding myself that it's not a pop-restricted contest considering the name of it + the fact the first round had a specifically pop theme!

I'm halfway through a listen and I've got a few standouts so far but also a few songs I'd rather not have to listen to again, oops. Also, maybe it's just me but there are also a couple of songs where I'm not hearing any sort of switch-up :unsure:
