Oh so the OCC have stuck to their 3 year rule then and shoved Merry Christmas back onto ACR

Good and they shouldn’t reset old songs that went to ACR during the Christmas rush like they did with Cruel Summer this year and Another Love last year

Mariah is ahead due to physicals and Tom has the Alexa boost but wham is I guess legitimately ahead
Good and they shouldn’t reset old songs that went to ACR during the Christmas rush like they did with Cruel Summer this year and Another Love last year

Up until Tuesday this week it wasn't 3 years old so it was allowed to auto-reset if it increased its streams which it did every Christmas since its release (this one included).

People celebrating Gigi going to ACR are forgetting that she’ll get reset in the new year
Oh Mariah's physicals being a big help *.* can't imagine it'll be enough to keep her ahead of Wham! by the end of the week but still x
Surprised Mariah didn’t postpone the release of her physicals by a week to contend for Christmas #1
Tom Grennan at 2 :o hope this doesn't become as big as Sam Ryder's
Did they just call Laufey "loafy" smh
I wouldn't mind if Tom is number 1 this Friday. :P

Official Charts Report

Could it be tiiiime? Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You may reach Number 1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart this week, but Tom Grennan and WHAM! are hot on her heels.

Rising from last week’s Number 5, All I Want For Christmas Is You leads the Official Chart: First Look following the airing of her Mariah Meets Rylan interview on BBC Two over the weekend, plus the release of new CD, 12” and 7” vinyl variants to mark the song’s 30th anniversary.

Mariah’s perennial Christmas classic first reached Number 1 in the UK in 2020, spending two weeks in the top spot. We’re a week away from the starting horn of the Christmas Number 1 race – can Mariah claim the ultimate Christmas accolade come December 20th?

Mariah has the edge at the halfway point of this week, but less than 300 chart sales separate the Top 3. Fresh from another weekend of putting up the Christmas tree, Tom Grennan’s Amazon exclusive It Can’t Be Christmas surges 23 places to 2, and WHAM!’s Last Christmas drops one place to 3.

Last week’s Number 1 Gracie Abrams could see her five-week reign with That’s So True come to an end, with it currently placing at Number 4 midweek.

Another new Christmas song rising the ranks is Laufey’s Christmas Magic. The Icelandic-Chinese artist’s 2024 Amazon Original made its Top 40 debut last week (39) and is tracking to rise 32 spots (7).

Finally, cutting through Christmas is Lola Young. Her breakthrough track Messy marked her first Top 40 single last week when it entered at Number 35, and it’s risen 16 places midweek to Number 19. Lola soundtracked the John Lewis Christmas ad in 2021, and was nominated for BRITs Rising Star and BBC Sound Of… the same year, losing out to Holly Humberstone and PinkPantheress.

Less than 300 separating the top 3 so definitely no #1 for Mariah by Friday unfortunately!

Isn't Amazon a bit more "on it" in terms of declaring data to the OCC which is why their exclusives appear higher in the mids before dropping back slightly at the end of the week? (Yes, I know Alexa auto-payola plays a huge part in its position).

It would be good if an Amazon Exclusive like some of the previous "big hitters" returned to the charts, especially given their exposure increasing with releases on other platforms (just shows how fake everything is eh).
