Still annoyed that Lil Boo Thang missed the top 100. Still one of my favourite songs of the year.

Biography

Noah Kahan pens tenderhearted meditations on life’s ups and downs that are rustic enough for country cabins yet infectious enough for the pop charts. The singer-songwriter was born in 1997 and grew up on a farm in Vermont. He spent his youth refining his folk picking on guitar, banjo, and mandolin while transforming his voice into the raspy falsetto captured on his debut hit, 2017's "Hurt Somebody." Recorded while bouncing between New York, L.A., and points in between, Kahan’s first two full-lengths, 2019’s Busyhead and 2021’s I Was / I Am, showcase an artist sharpening his pop instincts. When the Covid pandemic hit in 2020, Kahan returned to Vermont and—feeling nostalgic for his New England childhood—stripped his music to its gritty soul, resulting in 2022's breakout album, Stick Season. He went on to reimagine several cuts, including a version of “Dial Drunk” featuring rapper Post Malone, that reflect a gift for shaping folk and pop into increasingly novel expressions. - Apple Music

A song that hasn't charted top 100 all year  but more because of ACR and the 3 track rule keeping it out than anything else tbf x
Channel 700 on Freeview TV!

oh right I'll just have to stay behind then lol

not this R1 presenter almost playing Dog Days again agh

Surprised a song that peaked 32 and only had one week top 40 is in the top 100

and that one week being last year Lol

we'll have a few songs that never made the top 40 this year making it in I expect

Good one from Noah but I wish it was "Homesick" making it instead

crazy that Florence made it, but songs like Apple missed :o

Noah has so so so so many better tracks in his album, Paul Revere being the bestest but also I Call Your Mum and She Calls me Back

I'm not too familiar with this Dial Drunk but it's sounding decent. Posty works well for it too.

Wonder when this radio presenter is going to realise he can't play 100 songs in 4 hours though.

Biography

As grunge ruled the alt-rock nation in the early ‘90s, the crystalline voice of Dolores O'Riordan cut through the clamour like sunbeams through the darkest of clouds. Her band, The Cranberries, had formed in Limerick, Ireland in 1989, at a time when The Smiths’ sophisticated jangle and the Cocteau Twins’ enigmatic dream pop cast long shadows over indie scenes on the Isles. And with their 1993 debut, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, The Cranberries were able to export those college-radio sounds to the North American mainstream, thanks in large part to the irresistible coo and effortless way with melody O'Riordan displayed on romantic reveries like “Linger” and “Dreams”. But the looming spectre of The Troubles inspired a more raging response on 1994’s No Need to Argue, whose doomy dirge “Zombie” chronicled an IRA bombing that claimed the lives of two children, while the equally ubiquitous 1996 single “Salvation”—a punky, brass-blasted anti-drug PSA—further entrenched The Cranberries’ reputation as one of the most mercurial and outspoken bands of the era. After laying low for much of the ’00s, the group’s comeback in the ‘10s was perfectly timed to herald a new generation of artists—like Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy—inheriting the torch for musically luminescent, lyrically raw indie pop. Sadly, The Cranberries’ second chapter was cut short in 2018 with O’Riordan’s untimely death, after which the surviving members salvaged her final vocal recordings for 2019’s suitably sombre, eerily prescient swan song In the End. - Apple Music

Biography

Born in 1993, London-based songwriter/producer Fred John Philip Gibson treats his electro and rave-inspired songs as diary entries. But the artist, who performs under the name Fred Again.., doesn’t limit the subject matter to himself. On albums like 2021’s Actual Life (April 14 - December 17 2020) and its sequel, Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021), Fred invited his friends into the studio to record their personal stories and then sprinkled them throughout the album. (The obvious exception was an epic Kodak Black sample on “Kahan (Last Year)”.) The songwriter has also worked with stars such as Eminem and Ed Sheeran, but Fred’s longest collaboration is with his brothers, whom he shares his tracks with before they’re released. “It’s such a blessing to work with both of my brothers,” Fred explained in an interview with Apple Music. “I’ll spend hours and hours working on a tune, and they’ll hear it how I will, but without all the baggage. They bring a fresh ear.” On stage, he’s become closely associated with two beloved brothers from different mothers: Skrillex and Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden. Following a surprise booking at Coachella 2023, the three pals became an unlikely superstar DJ trio. Their success just proves a tenet key to Fred’s practice: Music is best among friends. - Apple Music

Linger was one of a small number of songs I had to prep from scratch due to not charting this year/recently, or making last year's EOY!

leavemealone is a 2024 hit at least but bleh, not a fave
