Think we need a thread for this x

The sixth production of Wallace & Gromit, the first full episode since 2008's A Matter of Loaf and Death and the second to be feature length after The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, released almost 20 (!) years ago in 2005. It aired on BBC on Christmas Day and will be available in select cinemas and Netflix globally on 3rd January!

This was the second most watched programme of the day on Christmas Day with over 9 million, a bit down on the 14 million that watched the last one in 2008, but still very impressive considering terrestrial TV ratings are much lower in this climate.

I loved this, they always get it spot on. It really does both verbal slapstick humour and silent comedy so well. My heart was in my mouth for that final sequence. Feathers McGraw was wonderful as well and they managed to even get a little bit of social commentary in there as well. This was sadly the first special without Peter Sallis as Wallace, although Ben Whitehead did a great job and I can't say it detracted from it at all.

It's wonderful to see in an age of oversaturation of content, that Wallace & Gromit have resisted that and that time and artistry is still being taken to produce great quality materials.

This was my first Wallace and Gromit experience! I was not even born when the original short films came out and I think only seen clips of the The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit!

I rather enjoyed it! Somewhat quirky but also cute? best way I can describe the style of the animation lmao. Rather funny too! I would die for Feathers McGraw!

I unsurprisingly (see: Gromit signature *.*) enjoyed this, it was my favourite of everything that was on offer from Christmas Day TV.

Wallace & Gromit was a huge part of my childhood, I religiously watched the first three shorts on VHS as a kid (need to revisit them) and this new adventure was my favourite since that almighty trio. The visual gags were very well-done on top of the charming and relevant script. Aardman's glorious clay stop-motion will obviously never get old!

Agreed that Ben Whitehead does a really good job of stepping into Wallace's shoes, I quickly got used to the new voice, as sad as it is to no longer have Peter Sallis.

Great to see that this was a very comfortable 2nd place for Christmas Day ratings. 9 million live viewers is fab in today's climate

Can’t help but feel sorry for Ben Whitehead though. Spends all that time voicing Wallace with all the pressure and then everyone just gives Ben Whishaw all of the credit!

Loved it - really is amazing how the franchose stands the test of time. It properly did feel like a sequel to The Wrong Trousers (not sure if was intended or not intended..).

Thought the Ant & Dec pun was absolutely genius!

Can't believe this didn't have a thread before x

I really need to watch the original trilogy at some point but I did really enjoy the other two 21st century instalments so was excited to watch this and it didn't disappoint, I did see a lot of the main punchlines coming a mile off but they still made me laugh. Lots of cute small visual gags / references peppered throughout (particularly loved the 'click all the images that contain cheese' gag).

Only saw it today repeated on BBC 1 but it was good! I missed the very start of it though.

Was a bit nervous about this following the second (and pretty awful) Chicken Run movie but we need not have worried as we both thoroughly enjoyed it, it was another masterclass in family entertainment. Amazingly I didn't even notice that Wallace had changed actor, it wasn't until afterwards that Mr D* pointed out that Peter Sallis had passed away. I read that Ben Whitehead was the new voice actor, he did a great job.

Yeh was wondering when saw it was on Netflix from January which thought was very early as thought bbc would want it on the iplayer all year exclusively but then thought maybe they cashed in!
