In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x

If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez).

Two records were broken by last week's poll winner, Cutting Crew's '(I Just) Died In Your Arms' - it became the first song to reach 11 votes for best of the week (beating the three way tie of Blondie, Pink Floyd and Pet Shop Boys' 10 each) and won by an unprecedented 4 vote margin after all previous winners won by at most 2. There was a tie for the runner-up position on 7 votes each for Heart's 'Alone' and Bruce Hornsby & The Range's 'The Way It Is'. The last poll also had a record-matching 16 total voters in the best list, although fell short of the record for voters for the worst list. Topping that poll was Atlantic Starr's 'Always' with 8 votes, while Peter Cetera and Amy Grant's 'The Next Time I Fall' came second with 6 votes and it was a three-way tie for the bronze on 3 votes each for Billy Vera & The Beaters' 'At This Moment', Whitney Houston's 'Didn't We Almost Have It All' and Michael Jackson and Siedah Garrett's 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You'. Bon Jovi's 'Livin' On A Prayer' got 6 votes as best of the week and 2 as worst of the week, making it the first song to get multiple votes in both categories.

My votes for this week:

Best:

George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You

George Michael - Monkey

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana

Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up

INXS, Belinda Carlisle, Bobby McFerrin, Michael Jackson's 'The Way You Make Me Feel' and George Michael's 'Father Figure' were also close. ('Monkey' was a great discovery here)

Worst:

Whitney Houston - Where Do Broken Hearts Go

There were lots of fairly indistinguishable rock and pop ballads which were a bit of a chore to sit through as a collective but I think as individual songs most of them don't rise to being worthy of a nod for worst of the week so I'm just doing the one vote this time for imo the worst offender of snoozefest ballads of the week.

Best:

Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth

George Michael - Father Figure

George Michael - One More Try

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

INXS - Need You Tonight

Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes - (I've Had) The Time Of My Life

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

INXS - Need You Tonight

Phil Collins - Two Hearts

Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up

Just voting for my 2 favourites as best this week:

Well this is (unintentionally) open for another week now so lots of time if anyone else still wants to chime in!

(the winner is actually tied at the moment so more votes to break that would be good - and in fact for surprisingly the first time ever the leader of the worst poll is also currently tied!)

BEST:

Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth

George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

INXS - Need You Tonight

Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now

WORST:

Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine

Def Leppard - Love Bites

Whitney Houston - Where Do Broken Hearts Go
