I can't recall the last time I didn't get a #1 to this extent tbh. 'Ordinary' is one of the most empty and soulless songs I've heard in years, the exact type of dross that will be forgotten about within a year aside from getting recycled to no end on ITV reality shows. awful song

I'm fine with the song, but yes it's very basic. I'm just saying, all those people who complained on a "default" number 1 under 400K or so, so 600K+ and still increasing is nice in general.

Nice figures but still awful song

An Ed Sheeran vs Alex Warren chart battle......we're not hungry.

I'm not even convinced Ed will be in the running. Top 10 debut easily but if Eyes Closed is anything to go off he will struggle to go number one.

Ed will zoom to number 1 I’m sure of it. It sounds huge to me from the clips.

Eyes closed wasn’t really a stand out big pop number, I’d say the closest to this single is Bad habits / Shivers etc…

What? Eyes Closed is a pure catchy pop song, just people didn't connect with it much but you can't say it doesn't sound very pop...

Azizam sounds fine (he preformed it already a few times so we all heard the full song) can be big, can be just a hit. He flopped (let's not argue about that) 2 albums in a row, let's not forget that.

Not sure about zooming to number 1 but I'd be very suprised if it didn't go top 10 with the push he giving it and well sales being so low below top 3

To be fair Autumn Variations was a low key indie release that received barely any promotion. Subtract still did solidly with only one big hit attached to it. But with interest in his back catalogue going down it's evident that Ed is falling out of fashion somewhat which makes me doubtful

I think you’ve missed what I’ve said I literally said it’s not a ‘BIG POP NUMBER’ I never said it wasn’t a pop song or it didn’t sound pop. It’s not hard hitting with a big huge chorus it’s very tepid in comparison.

Just my opinion though obviously.

Ordinary is a smashing tune from a guy who seems to have a great personality. Thoroughly deserved number one .

For the first time since 2016 Ed had no songs in the year end top 100 last year. Perfect was in every year since its release, Shape Of You missed the one in 2020 but made every year's list up to 2022, while Shivers and Bad Habits were top 40 three years in a row (Bad Habits the only song to be top 2 for 2 years) then vanished from 2024's list. If the Tour Collection was released in 2021/22 it would've had The Highlights level success, possibly better, but it's currently dipping in and out of the top 5 less frequently than that album did. He's not as big of a streaming giant as before
