Can we please talk about how the Official Charts website is so slow and how you can't even leave it to go to another tab without the website crashing your computer. You leave it for one second and now everything on your Google is frozen. It's so annoying, because I thought we would have left this issue with the old version of the website but here we are.

  • I agree, the old site was far better. Visually now it's so clunky too.

It is diabolical. In this day and age it should be easier to use, mobile friendly (preferably with an app) and a valuable resource for searching historic chart data. It's none of those things.

I don't use it on my computer, it crashes my whole computer to the point I have to hard reboot it. For some reason it opens up a 2gb tab, they really need to declutter it. I find it ok on mobile thou

I find it ok on mobile though.

Very annoyed that a song's history on the audio streaming chart is not available directly on the song's page. Nigh on impossible to use for phone users. Same for the BPI certified website!

Granted, it's not a large part of their audience, but I'm amused that they still haven't figured out how to make their countdown timer work properly outside of UK timezones

I use the Official Charts website with Edge browser on a DELL desktop computer (Intel i9) and have no problems. It never crashes my PC when I go to different tabs.

Never had any problems in the past. I use Virgin Media broadband at 350Mbps speed.

It doesn’t crash for me but the formatting is terrible and it’s not user friendly at all, especially on mobile.

I do personally think it’s better than the old version, but they’re both pretty bad

Their search engine is next to useless and always returns irrelevant results if I search for an artist!

I have to type in "[artist name] official charts" into Google, and then it takes me to the page I want lol

The chart run section is also still showing a lot of albums as being re-entries on the 04/05/2023 chart 😆.

Hopefully at some point we can get an app and it’ll flow smoother!

Never had a problem Opening the site

Either on phone or on Computer

Biggest issue is the inaccuracies in artists discographies that miss half of their entries especially collabs and features that are missing or available as a aeparate entry

I don't think it is even possible to go from PARTYNEXTDOOR/DRAKE link to the both artists chart histories at once. It's unfortunate, but technically impossible. Thankfully, they show that album on both chart history pages.

As far as the original question goes, I think it works ok but is very slow when loading "weeks on" histories for mammoth albums like Rumours. But there are over 1000 entry points at once so it's understandable. At least we are able to click on a particular chart week and the site goes straight to that. Billboard doesn't have the feature. You can only search for a particular week there, and not go through individual releases and their success.

I like that the old site we could copy and paste into a spreadsheet w not much hassle besides removing some spaces that had ads, I’m assuming that might be part of why they changed it maybe though so 😭

I hate that the EOY charts show data for the Top 200 while only showing the top 100 it’s so frustrating, show the 200 or keep it to the top 100 I think they should do.

For artists, they should at the very least have some metadata link to the designated lead artists chart history, Maybe they could link part of the text to the features as well? But just the main artist would be an improvement over nothing

at least now they fixed the error of the discographies of Nelly/Nelly Furtado, who were combined for a long time :)

but if you check any discography, there's always errors and omissions

I just checked Nelly Furtado and for instance they have Give it to me credited solely to Justin Timberlake

and Morning after dark is missing. They also don't credit Nelly Furtado on James Morrison's Broken Strings, but not sure,

maybe she wasn't officially credited by the occ?

This irritates me too... almost 2 years with this error and yet they've either never noticed, or they have but don't care to fix it! drama

I've never had problems with the site crashing/being slow on desktop! (It's not great on mobile though...)

The chart history pages are riddled with errors and inconsistencies but tbf the old website didn't have those pages at all so it's still an improvement.
