June 4Jun 4 Excited, but ready to be disappointed by this. I love a bit of Mariah, but she hasn't been delivering lately. "A No No" from the "Caution" era was pretty good, channel that energy please!
June 6Jun 6 I think I like this? It does just plod on and doesn’t go anywhere much though…Cute though.
June 6Jun 6 This is so good!! So great to have some new music from Mariah, I hope an album's on the way too.
June 7Jun 7 Author The lyrics are so amusing... it's so Mariah! In other news, Mariah is now signed to gamma. - it's the first time in her career that she's not signed to a major label!Full article here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jabariyoung/2025/06/05/larry-jackson-gamma-mariah-carey-album-mc16-type-dangerous/
June 7Jun 7 I had to listen hard to make sure it was actually Mariah. The vocals don't sound anything like her. Either her voice has really deepened over the years or they have used lots of autotune. Edited June 7Jun 7 by montyj
June 8Jun 8 I have heard this twice today on Capital.I am no Mariah fan, but this is pretty good. Not sure what they have done to her voice as it sounds nothing like her at all, but I'll admit I found it a decent enough tune.

Glad she’s taking full advantage of the slot to launch her new era!
June 9Jun 9 Author I think she still sounds recognisably like herself in the song (the Mariah-isms are distinctive!). At least, following on from how her vocals sounded like on the remixes of yes, and / Made for Me / Big Energy, her most recent recordings. Plus this:I think it’s just how her vocals sound now, at 56. Voices certainly change with age and her last “proper” music is from 7 years ago!I think the most notable difference is that she isn’t overusing melisma on this track. She’s taken a more straight forward approach.I’d argue she’s less processed sounding on Type Dangerous than on a lot of Caution tracks tbh (that’s no shade to Caution).
June 10Jun 10 This could be her first non-Christmas charting song on the Hot 100 since 2017! And first totally solo since 2015. Nothing from Caution managed even the Bubbling Under chart so I’d consider this a triumph.
