Spamming ‘Blue Moon’ like crazy, such a smashy slice of me. Gonna be spamming that on my Thailand holiday next week my friends gonna be sick of it. ‘Girl’s Girl’ and ‘Hot & Sexy’ are the other highlights to me. Like the idea of ‘Eurosummer’ an Inna collab would deffo make aa lot of sense on that. Quality album in general, she definitely didn’t disappoint. This was the strongest album release so far for me this week after listening to ‘Vie’ and ‘Perrie’

  • This really is the album I’ve been waiting for from Zara her whole career. She’s always had great singles but as I’ve said in previous posts here, the albums often felt like a mish mash of sounds wit

  • Me when Eurosummer

  • I am a Pretty Ugly truther. 10/10 song to me. I can see why most people don't like it as it's so in your face but it absolutely slaps. Great album overall and easily her best. Hope it manages top 10

Working my way through this now and I find it baffling that it got an Autumn release! It screams summer soundtrack.

It's a fun listen anyway, I think 'Blue Moon' will end up being a favourite. 'Eurosummer' made me want to be on holiday again and 'Hot & Sexy' feels like a good companion song to Tove Lo & SG Lewis' 'HEAT' production-wise, need to play them back-to-back. Loved the production on 'Girl's Girl' too.

I was hoping that 'Pretty Ugly' would grow on me in the context of the album but I still can't take to the chanty chorus. Which is a shame as I quite like how aggressive the production is otherwise, but together it's a bit obnoxious for me.

But yeah, a good pop album overall and I've really enjoyed her aesthetics this era too. The VMAs look especially 😍

anyway she ate, i fear.

HOW were midnight sun and eurosummer not the lead singles tho. pretty ugly i kinda get but crush is the chop of the album imo, they should have played more into the summer nostalgia vibes for the rollout.

This really is the album I’ve been waiting for from Zara her whole career.

She’s always had great singles but as I’ve said in previous posts here, the albums often felt like a mish mash of sounds with plenty of ballad filler. This is cohesive, this is punchy, it has a clear vision and she executes it with absolute precision. It’s glossy, it’s sunlit, it’s confident, it’s ambitious, it’s positive and all wrapped up in a bow that is signed off by Zara’s vocals. Her vocals have always been fantastic but they’re experimental and show off her range in a way I’m not used to hearing.

Blue Moon and Saturn Returns feel atmospheric, emotional yet triumphant and she sounds exquisite on them. But if it’s confident and knowingly camp you want then Hot N Sexy and Puss Puss are there for the taking. Both styles feel like they shouldn’t work together but they absolutely do.

I could go on writing how in love I am with this era. If Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves was my go to for a breezy summertime album, this will now be my go to for the power pop-adjacent search for that energy.

Sunshine in the form of an album. Released in September for some reason. But superb nonetheless.

A good high energy pick me up after all the music released today.

Why this wasn't released in the summer is baffling. I would have been playing the heck out of this album but it doesn't really have an autumn tone.

Looking forward for the CD. Midnight Sun was my favourite so far from it.

Currently up to 'The Ambition' and 'Pretty Ugly' stands out like a sore thumb to me. I actually can't tolerate that "song" anymore tearsmile

But everything else...

WHEW!

Pretty Ugly is utterly utterly terrible, one of the worst songs I’ve heard all year.

This album aside from thst is stellar though, Midnight Sun didn’t hit me initially and PU alongside that made me not bother with the rest of the era but I’m glad I did now! Eurosummer SLAPS

I need to hear Pretty Ugly live and have the speaker blow my brain out as the beat kicks in. Soz

Once again the singles aren't my faves. Are they anyones? Artists are so bad at picking some singles.

I regard Midnight Sun (the song) as being a career highlight, so definitely a favourite from this album! I personally think Crush is great too. I think those were solid choices.

Pretty Ugly... it's very rambuctious and I do get the thinking behind starting the era with something attention grabbing. That song was only ever going to be a first single or not released at all... I guess a few would rather the latter had happened. kink I think it's fun for what it is, but if the idea was to start the era off with a quirky bang, then perhaps Hot & Sexy would be my choice. Or just kick the era off with Midnight Sun (song) tbh. What's done is done!

Of the new songs, Blue Moon is the gem for me. wub On the whole I think the album is rather strong. I concur that the release date is a little puzzling - I feel like the album would have hit different back in July.

Yeah, I think Pretty Ugly was a bold lead single. Sometimes being bold pays off - I don’t think Katseye would be doing so well with Gabriela if it wasn’t for how left field Gnarly was that grabbed people’s attention.

But I guess Zara’s not a new artist, people aren’t looking to her for her next move like they are with an act that are growing. She really needs to be hitting it with every lead single to keep people on board, just as Can’t Tame Her did and it’s undoubtably Midnight Sun that is the hit of the album.

Probably should’ve been Midnight Sun (late April) -> Hot N Sexy (June) -> Eurosummer (push single with the album in July. Why her label waited to release this album in September is beyond me but I’m glad that they didn’t pull a Jade and release half of the album beforehand too.
