Chris Butler wrote the track based on his hatred of the holiday. The song follows a busy woman who does not want to celebrate Christmas due to stress, but she later cheers up after advancing with a man she has been interested in all year. The title "Christmas Wrapping" was a play on words of "Christmas rapping" as the verses sounded like a rap.
14 hours ago14 hr Author Thoughts on 10-69 To 5- never been a big fan of Dolly/country music in general and have never seen the film this was made for, never sought this song out. Can still respect it as a classic thoughThe Chain- awesome song, that closing instrumental is great, the BBC sports department in the 70s had great taste! My favourite song on Rumours by far, I'm actually surprised it only made it to number 9 in this rate!Wouldn't It Be Nice- my top song in this rate! I always associate the Beach Boys with Summer holidays and escaping stress as we had their greatest hits on CD in the car while traveling. We still keep up the tradition to this day through streaming! "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is definitely in my top 5 of their tracks, Pet Sounds remains a classic. Brian Wilson really was a genius, may he rest in peaceEdge Of Seventeen- didn't realise John Lennon's death had an influence on this song! Can thank Jack Black in School Of Rock for getting me into this, what a great songChristmas Wrapping- I absolutely hate Christmas music and am at the stage in my life where I'm becoming sick of the holiday in general. This is my favourite Christmas song in terms of its lyrics as for the most part I can relate to the stress of the protagonist, but I still find it extremely annoying (like nearly every other Christmas song) just because of how many times I've had to hear it unwillingly.Top 5 will revealed on Sunday! Thanks everyone for your patience 😁
11 hours ago11 hr Three big losses at 12-14 yesterday, since then the only one I'm particularly glad to see in the top 10 that's dropped out is 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' - absolutely one of The Beach Boys' best songs, combining the cheerful singalong nature of their early hits with a deeper yearning in keeping with the Pet Sounds album as a whole.Interesting top 5, a couple I expected to be here and a few others I wouldn't necessarily have called, but they all made my top 30 in the final.
11 hours ago11 hr The Chain was the 2nd of the three songs I thought might be the #1 here so surprised it is out already. One of my predictions is left. The top 5 does have some surprising but very welcome songs, it’s getting very interesting! Luckily I like all of them.Very happy at the Beach Boys doing so well, Wouldn’t It Be Nice is a great song but boy its original A side God Only Knows is an absolutely wonderful song, one of my all time favourites. RIP Brian😢Christmas Wrapping is one of the Christmas songs I can enjoy outside the festive period, maybe because it isn’t played to death every year like some other more obvious ones.
11 hours ago11 hr “God Only Knows” is one of my favourite songs of all time. “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” is… just nice for me.The moment when what’s now known as the F1 theme emerges in “The Chain” never stops being spine tingling. Another of my desert island records. It’s always hard rating Christmas songs among a pool of non Christmas songs in midsummer, but “Christmas Wrapping” is absolutely one of the best Christmas tracks ever. Seems The Waitresses had some other great stuff too and were very underrated.

Cole's "No Role Modelz", though it almost charted around the time of the band's 2023 Glastonbury performance. It was never released as a single. The phrase "mardy bum" is Yorkshire slang for someone sulky. Like "A-Punk" it was used in The Inbetweeners.EXCELLENT song. Not surprised it's sold the way it has.One of my top 3 songs of all time. A song about a mundane day to day behind closed doors with your partner, the bickering and petty little fights, played out over a pleasant soft enticing melody.
36 minutes ago36 min 'Christmas Wrapping' possibly my all time favourite Christmas song, or at least it would be comfortably top three! I just love how joyous it sounds!
