Kanine has been insanely great this decade. We genuinely wanted to hold him off until the K9 x Arcando collab comes out, but we agreed Buzzjack's Summer wouldn't be perfect without Kanine bombing the dancefloor.

Initially wanted to send his remix of the Sub Focus x bbyclose collab, but I assumed it would get vetoed anyway.

Summer Rain was confirmed all the way back in the 9th contest when entry changes were public and then nobody ever sent it in the end I don’t think. It’s a Clubland classic so hope it gets some appreciation!

The Summer Rain thing REALLY confused me while doing veto research because you guys started doing odds to win before the confirmation period had even ended. So this song was appearing in the odds but yet the Songs Of thread said they'd sent So What and I couldn't get my head round it 🤣

Yeah many people used to switch entries that got bad odds before confirmations closed, unsurprisingly. So I’m not sure what Simondly’s excuse was for changing as we gave them very generous odds as you can see.

We had the eventual winner at 25/1 there so take with a heavy pinch of salt.

No wonder we took it all behind closed doors though.

Edit: I just saw what Simondly switched to instead - good grief. Like Silas said - the Wild West. You can see what Margaret Berger had to overcome to win in the days of people sending any old thing. I think that was part of the reason that song became such a BJSC classic, it really overcame the odds.

Their excuse was... So What by Pink leaking but not being released yet, and people (you included) being like "well I haven't heard it but I like Pink, so it's not the cheapest entry ever!"

Wild times, I had a fun 15 minutes going through all of this 😂

Let’s not forget the lore that same year of me holding a semi-final to turf out only three songs as the final was firmly fixed at 24 or something. We were young and didn’t know what we were doing 😂
