Disappointing. Pretty much every track on Mayhem is better than this.

Gaga’s instagram bio now reads “MAYHEM, INCLUDING THE DEAD DANCE” OUT NOW.

As of now it’s currently not on MAYHEM on my streaming service but it may get added later on as it has just dropped! But this being on the album itself is fantastic news for UK chart purposes 😁

I listened once very sporadically before work but will listen properly at lunch time

It's a bit basic, but groovy! This after one quick listen.

God I wanted to love this, but I just don't :( The chorus is so underwhelming, which surprises me coming from a Lady who is known for those gigantic choruses.

Hoping the video brings it to life a bit more for me.

This is the 2nd most airplay-friendly single after DWAS so should do pretty well on that front.

Rather disappointed, as others have said the chorus is just flat. They’d have been better off doing a remix of Zombieboy

It's good! It's only "disappointing" by Mayhem standards, but by the end of the song, it does worm its way into your psyche and there's enough interesting elements to keep it fun. If it had ended sub 3-minutes, as a lot of pop does these days, I'd probably have sighed but the last minute injects more life into it.

It's hard not to echo the feelings of "this being a single when Zombieboy/How Bad isn't" does feel a bit disappointing because this doesn't stack up to them. And I do think when songs are trying to be TikTok dances, they so often fail. Bloody Mary was never intended that way, it just happened organically. So I guess we'll wait and see whether this works for her, but a reworked Zombieboy remix would've been preferable for me if she needed a single to coincide with Wednesday.

Not as bad as many are saying but not close to her best of the era feels a fair summary.

A new song is always better for album streams / chart purposes though. I think I like this more than I liked The Cure when it came out. That is probably the closest comparison out of her releases.

The video made me like this less

I expected more from a Tim Burton and Gaga collaboration — at least something campy and less corny. It's all a bit boring and very will this do for a Halloween tween soundtrack?

So my thoughts are that the verses are absolutely incredible and fit right in with the quality we've had for Mayhem. The final 3rd is spectacular too, closes the song on a high. The chorus is however quite mid and would rank lower third if I was to compare to the other Mayhem choruses.

The music video is good and does the job.

I think there's scope for some viral moments and I am excited to see it in use in Wednesday.

A Halloween staple? We will have to wait and see x

4 dancers and one outfit for a song called The Dead Dance - especially after THAT previous single and its accompanying video? Yeaaaah, not great.

Filming was definitely rushed in between her live shows and filming Wednesday etc.

I really like the music video you know!

I have to also say as well the music video plot for The Dead Dance really fits the narrative to this “short film” teased that had Garden of Eden, Zombieboy and Princess Die in it.

But yeah I feel like the video is effective enough and has certain moments I can see getting GIFs/ some Tik Toks. I’ve seen the clip where it’s used in Wednesday as well and that does look promising BUT ive never seen a single Wednesday episode or scene of Wednesday prior to this.

My immediate thought is it is like the single Dua Lipa did for the Barbie film, but gothed up a bit for the show it's attached to.

I agree that the production on the verses is more interesting than the chorus, particularly as the elements of the production are all kinda there in the chorus but for some reason they turned them all down a lot... but it is pretty catchy so I feel like it could potentially be a hit?

Edit - just watched the video and I think it's fine, better than I was expecting after reading some of the comments here. It's fun. And I found myself already thinking the hooks are landing more with every listen.

I'm underwhelmed. I wanted more singles with incredible video's from Mayhem! Garden of Eden and Zombie boy deserved the single treatment over this ;/
