For a Scandipop contest there wasn’t much actual ScandiPOP to be found.

Votes in, was thinking initially I'd struggle to point 10 songs given that's half the field but there was just about enough quality here to fill up the roster. Got a strong top 5 in particular.

I actually wasn't aware there had been a previous Schlagerfest contest but I see it was over 8 years ago so must have missed that at the time, long overdue sequel then this was!

There definitely wasn't much schlager to be found apart from maybe two or three entries, although I suspect an actual schlager spin-off would go down like a lead balloon.

If you opened it up to Germany/Austria/Switzerland, The Netherlands and South Africa for such a spin-off though, there would be plenty to choose from. I wouldn't struggle with that!

I did really enjoy all of what I voted for though, and even had a couple of spares I liked.

Will be doing a relisten and voting this evening, sorry for being last minute x

I regret leaving this so late as this was so much better than I expected/what the comments so far have indicated I think! I enjoyed the vast majority of the entries and really difficult to order my top 5.

Like the majority I'm definitely guilty of not sending schlager but I'd like to think that my Scandi-indie entry fits in spirit with its tweeness, and since it fits in the Service/Labrador/Sincerely Yours ecosystem (three Gothenburg/Malmo-based record labels that were big in the 00s and early 10s) it does sound distinctively Scandi to me.
