Fairly sure the Oasis resets did come as the result of 25%+ increases!

The announcement resets last year (except Wonderwall) would've been the 25% ones but not the ones for the actual tour this year!

Are we sure? Don't Look Back in Anger, for example, went from outside the streaming top 100, to #25!

The Oasis songs definitely had 25%+ increases again this year at the start of the tour, but by OCC's rules (whatever they are worth), the ones that charted in the last 3 years shouldn't have had the reset.

If they wanted to stick to their rules of the increase reset not applying to songs that had charted in the past 3 years the songs that charted last year wouldn't have been reset. That's what I was getting at rather than them resetting the tracks because they had increased by 25%👍 (this post probably makes no sense but neither do the OCC!)

True that case they bent their other rule didnt they, the one where a song can only get reset if it hadn't already had one

Even if they did have 25% increases (they definitely did), Live Forever, Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger and Supersonic should’ve been barred from a reset by the OCC’s own rules. Same with Yellow and Viva La Vida (not that they even got the increase, so their reset makes no sense), Sparks however deserved one by the OCC’s rules

Oh yes I'm not disputing their own 3 year rule, I know the OCC bent that rule for the Oasis tracks (and Coldplay), it was only the 25% increase part I was questioning!

I have to admit I’m finding the 10-40 section of the chart right now especially boring. Triple ancient coldplay in there, an old Rihanna song, loads of songs on ACR that have been hanging around for way too long and oasis still just about lingering as well. The top 10 and Sabrina’s 3 songs being a bit of much needed freshness but my god that 10-40 section is pretty stale for me

Just noticed Golden is up 4k on last week wonder if it can actually break the 70k mark this week

Could come close to the biggest weekly sale of the year so far of 73.5k.

Let’s hope gaga also gets some resets when she’s here at the end of the month then!

And poor Let Down never being reset :/

I think its apparent the rule about not having charted in 3 years doesnt exist anymore

but the thing is... it's not only Golden doing very well on Amazon, Sabrina-Tears is doing poorly there, #37 now, while Olivia is #6

the thing with Amazon is that in normal regular weeks, I don't think the contribution to the charts is that big. Sure Amazon has 1/3 of the pie but the users mostly listen to old songs, just look at their top 100, even right now Sabrina's Taste is higher than Tears. For instance, there are times when there are songs only doing well on Amazon, and go top 10 on Amazon, but not even top 100 on Amazon. But then during times like Xmas, Amazon streams explode. And the thing with Golden/KPop Hunters is that it's a sorta Xmas situation, that's why the numbers must be so huge.

Streams explode everywhere at Christmas, it's a more concentrated event, usually people's habits are spread out across basically any song, but for the festive season, there's a narrower field that people gravitate to. I don't think Golden is the same, it's just hugely popular as a song.

Let's hope so 🤞

Has anyone ever looked into the disproportionate performance of album track 1s in the streaming age?

It definitely helps a little bit but there's also probably a shared expectation from both artist & listener that contributes more. The artist knows that Track 1 is important, and treats it with due diligence. The listener knows the artist knows this, and gives it greater consideration. In any case, it usually gets quickly evaluated and 'put in its place'. Sometimes quicker than people realise because repeat listeners & cherry pickers are a huge component to the streaming numbers.

I always think of Ed Sheeran's 2017 album. Track 1, "Eraser" is a bit left field, and is the least streamed song on that album. No one would've known that going in, but already on the first day of streaming, it's only ranked 9th out of 16 on the album. By the Monday it was rubbing shoulders with the deluxe tracks. That's a remarkably quick assessment that gives some plausible deniability to any future Track 1 that feels like it's coasting.

Wouldn't say it's 100% for Amazon, a lot of people I know ask their Alexas to play music and they don't have a Prime (or whatever the premium music service is called) subscription.

I’m not certain - but I think it still counts as Premium because it’s part of Amazon Prime, right? And I assume that’s why Amazon has such a huge impact at Christmas. Because it force feeds certain songs to people with Amazon Prime - but because they don’t have Amazon Music Unlimited, they can’t select which songs they play.

Goo goo dolls iris done mr brightside stay chart all year so far

I think the craziest part with the KDH is we are 3 months in and its not even peaked yet. How long will the hype last, both versions, normal and singalong are consistently top 10 on netflix even with all the new films that keep getting added

Could even say chappel was really lucky to release when she did 😅

Yeh Chappell was really lucky she had the physicals and it nearly looks like a non no1 the way the chart run is. Golden is clearly the most popular song on the past month but Chappell interrupted for one week with a big impact.

Don’t know why everyone seems to be trying to find a reason for Goldens success on Amazon as if trying to downgrade its popularity as if Amazon is less legitimate than other outlets.
