Posted Yesterday at 10:391 day Last time Coldplay managed to sell tons of CDs cos basically if you bought (or pre-ordered) the CD, then you get early access to tour tickets...and I see for instance Lewis Capaldi is already doing the song for an album it's not even officially announcedand then he even mentioned not being sure about releasing an albumso basically for his Sept tour right now and for the tour dates he's announced for next summerif you wanna get early tix access, you need to pre-order his forthcoming albumdo you think it's fair?
Yesterday at 10:461 day You don't need to buy the album, there will always be a no purchase necessary link somewhere on the page. Granted, it's very small, but it will always be there (if they want the sales to be chart eligible).
Yesterday at 11:031 day I mean, given that the money for artists is mainly in touring now, I say it's fair game.

Yesterday at 13:161 day I definitely feel like for presales for a tour people who’ve actually bought their latest release should get access / priority first! And that should be for any tour. So I kind of agree on this one!

Yesterday at 15:301 day I think it's totally fair. Purchasing the album isn't essential to get a presale code, but the presale code can be an incentive to boost album sales. It's not the same as the k-pop photocards for example, which are randomised and utilised as a "collect them all" opportunity. As long as there's a "no purchase necessary" link then I see no issues.
16 hours ago16 hr Author But what about if someone like Taylor Swift did that, like if she had done it in the eras tour

I got my tickets via a presale for anyone who pre-ordered Midnights from her store (I used the "no purchase necessary" link). Don't know why it would make a difference if Taylor did it?

15 hours ago15 hr Author well, maybe it's me then that I'm over-estimating the effect this could have, was imagining thousand and thousands wouldn't see the small print and buy blindly just to get to the tix pre-sales
15 hours ago15 hr I have to say I think it’s fair. There’s always a no purchase necessary link as others have said but I do feel like it prompts someone into buying the album. It’s also an artist they want to go and see so it’s not like the album is being purchased by someone who isn’t interested at all.I think physical sales are so low it’s the perfect way to help prop up sales. We’d be seeing even lower numbers than we do already. On an unrelated note to do with fairness….I just wish they’d bring back signed single track CD’s / vinyl. I understand why they removed it but it was another way of helping physical media stay. They should have put a pricing clause in place like a minimum of £3.99 per CD single or something. It was nice as fans to have the single formats signed for a good price. Edited 15 hours ago15 hr by Mr. C. Joel
13 hours ago13 hr From what I've seen, almost every artist (that tours) does this with their albums, even if they haven't announced a tour yet they say "to gain presale for future shows". Some artists are just more popular touring artists, it's as simple as this!In my books, I would far prefer this was the only way to access presales for shows! Then, theoretically, the artist ensures that the people that are first priority to see their show are interested in the album that they presumably would like to play songs from 😂 (I'm really not a fan of the O2 priority/whatever other presale bloodbaths lol)

12 hours ago12 hr Tbh, I prefer this to the excessive multi-formatting that we see now from some of the big name artists. It isn’t a compulsory purchase to get the early access link (though appreciate it isn’t something many highlight). I would also expect more of the people buying the albums will listen to them compared to people collecting multiple copies of the same album.
