It’s definitely dated and not really offering fresh / new but it’s an improvement upon a lot of the 143 era so that’s something.

I don’t think I’ll ever be floored by a lead single as much as I was for NRO

I can see the potential if the song is good. She has been hated enough for awhile so now it's time for revival..

It isn't good, oh well...

This ain't gonna do it. She really needs a smash song to gain some success again. This is below average at best.

This is so pedestrian, it hasn't done anything for me on first listen. The lyrics are quite clunky and predictable, the vocals seem really strained and screechy? Where's the excitement in her music or the urgency. Not a fan.

I quite enjoy this actually. The video is great, I do love the final destination homage. In some ways when I was listening, my mind was flashing back to alanis morissette. I dunno if the song itself just sounds like it's from the 90's and that whole era? I'm really enjoying it though.

The video for this is 10/10! I love the concept and I feel like the quirky humour moments are Katy at her best. The song I think is actually pretty decent. I don't think it sounds like a hit song but personally I really like it.

I like it myself too, it's the first Katy single (being the operative word as I liked Wonder from 143) that I've gone back to for more listens since Daisies.

I always personally liked the One of the Boys era more than any other of hers, so it figures that I'd like this as has a similar vibe.

Yeah, the video is great. It's the right side of funny for her, the ending is genius. The song...it's an improvement on 143 but the bar was in hell. It's very radio 2 leaning, so it's not for me, but it's listenable which is new for her these days.

I actually really like this song, but I preferred it when I listened to it this morning rather than with the video.

Having said that, the video is cool as well.

Not sure Katy will be expected to have a major hit in 2025, but it's a decent enough track.

(and considerably better than Woman's World)

Surprised at the muted-reaction here as I think it's by FAR the best thing she has done in a long time. Definitely my favourite song of hers I've heard since 'Harley's In Hawaii'... It's very if 'Never Really Over' was on 'One Of The Boys' to me and I love that about it. Really into it on the first few listens and the video is a lot of fun.

Also, I'm not particularly saying this is the song (or album?) to do it, but I don't think we should ever write former huge stars off from ever getting another smash btw. A lot of people are really quick to jump at her specifically "never getting another hit/smash"... Who'd have thought Lily would be on her way to her biggest era in a Decade and a half? Who'd have thought Miley would have had a smash like 'Flowers'?

I’m a fan! (shocker)

I’ve seen a lot saying it’s very One Of The Boys but for me, it’s very PRISM - particularly the latter half of that album. It’s a sonically sister of It Takes Two in many ways and I think it feels where Katy sits best musically. It feels natural to her, not like she’s trying to ride on a trend, in that kind of Kelly Clarkson-ish area and she sounds great.

And contrary to what others have said, I loooove when she’s in that slightly strained/shouty register. It’s what makes me love the bridge of Never Really Over, and songs like Circle The Drain and Who Am I Living For? from Teenage Dream.

I’m not saying it’s an instant favourite or that it’ll be a hit but I think this is really good. Love the video too and I think it balances silly Katy out in a way that’s not too off putting.

I just don’t think shes quite good enough as a vocalist for the song to really work. If someone with decent pipes was belting the chorus it might pop off more for me but Katys very much lacking in that department for me so when the chorus does come it just falls flat 🫠.

I think 'bandaids' is a step in the right direction for Katy. It's a sensible move to tap into a sound that really fits her like a glove - I'm hearing some One of the Boys vibes but with the polish of Prism. Maybe her vocal delivery isn't for everybody, but I like how earnest she sounds here! Will it set the charts alight? Maybe not, but I think at the very least it serves as a palate cleansing moment, a moment of course correction, and that's important for where she's at currently.

I like this song it reminds me of the old katy perry.

Katy Perry debuts on Spotify:

#1. Never Really Over — 3.4M plays
#2. Chained To The Rhythm — 3.0M plays
#3. WOMAN'S WORLD — 2.8M plays
#4. Feels — 2.4M plays
#5. Daisies — 2.3M plays

I wonder how this will fair in comparison.
