It's not just the UK that Mariah's been lagging behind Wham. She's been lagging behind them in a lot of European countries, and they're also starting to gradually overtake her streams worldwide. The last 3 days, they've been ahead of her on Global Spotify. And for the first time ever, they've overtaken her on the US Spotify chart. Last Christmas also dethroned AIWFCIY as the #1 song worldwide for the first time on the Global 200.

To think on Tuesday afternoon it was only on less than 350k

Wham did 758k streams yesterday, 140k more than Tuesday. I still don’t think they will beat Kylie but if they add another 15 to 16k on from today + estimated steams tomorrow it could be close.

This - I’m also surprised that Apple & Spotify don’t mount challenges, maybe they will now that after years of chipping away at it Amazon will hopefully (!!) get the UK Christmas #1.

I do think that next year will be an interesting one too - I feel as if a few more artists might be interested as it feels Kylie’s involvement is much more high profile to the GP than the likes of Sam Ryder and Tom Grennan.

Kylie has got to be over the moon - proving to herself that she still has what it takes to snatch a UK #1.

I am going to assume it doesn't sit well with them that Kylie's on track to be the first solo female artist to have a Christmas song as the Christmas #1!

I think Mariah’s annual campaign is hurting the song more than helping it at this point, it’s kind of overexposure. I’m a massiveeee Lamb but I couldn’t even enjoy the HFIA era knowing it’d be wrapped up within a week to start the 3-month long Christmas campaign 🫠

Yeah , like all wham versions are still chart eligible even if most people have bought them in previous years, so all Kylie ones will still be eligible
