Raye only 12k behind Taylor today, obviously Taylor's acoustic version will give her an advantage but looks good for Raye potentially overtaking at one point!

I know it's been an autoplay favourite all year but is there any reason for Every Breath You Take being so high? Stranger Things hype maybe?

Sad to see Chris Rea doing so poorly, hopefully will pick up as the song title becomes more appropriate closer to Christmas.

Crazy to think that it has a daily peak of #5 only a few years ago.

Maybe if the song wasn’t so boring it’d be doing better!

Whereas I will actively encourage 'Driving Home For Christmas' slander! It's an over-rated snoozefest, I'll never understand the love for it.

A video clip from her Amsterdam show when she brought a fan Julia up on stage and Julia knew the whole choreography and danced as if she was part of the dancers is going viral!

It’s become a big thing at her tour now too. She chooses someone from the audience every night and is continuing the trend! I’ve seen a couple of others! One with a little boy who was nervous af but smashed it.

Just wholesome content.

It’s interesting to see that despite this, ‘Last Christmas’ was higher in the Chart Update than this time last year.

In fact, the majority of the top tracks are in similar positions to last year - most of them slightly higher this year. However, there does seem to be a drop off lower down - with only 8 in the top 75 compared with 11 last year.

I guess overall I feel that Christmas seems further away than this time last year.

Im guessing it felt more christmassy because we had had snow already etc this year the last 2 days are the first we had any proper cold weather this season

I thought the snowy year was 2023, but I may well be wrong.

The really snowy year was 2023 but we did have a bit well the country not here where I am did have a lot last year too

I don't think it's an indicate of what comes in December. I would assume the streaming numbers for Christmas songs reach all time high again when the season ACTUALLY arrives (weekends and days leading to Christmas).

Sure, you’re almost certainly correct, but if they’re down 20% in the 6 weeks leading up to that, their YE numbers will still be down.

That could happen. But that’s all based on the figures lagging behind for 6 weeks.

Last week, Wham! were on 15% behind sales of the same week last year. But we also need to bear in mind we are one day earlier in the month than the same day of the week last year.

If by December they are ahead of last year it could make up for it - because 15% to 20% of the small amount they are streaming at the moment could easily be made up for by a 15% to 20% increase on high figures during December.

One big issue though is Christmas Day being on a Thursday, and seeing how the Thursday’s streams are estimated on that day.

My gut feeling is that you are right and the overall streaming figures for Christmas songs this year will be down.

The lyrics perfectly encompass the period!

Maybe so but it just does nothing for me.

I only recently discovered that it only made #53 on release in 1988 and didn't actually chart again until 2007 when downloads became a thing. Anyone know why in particular the song took off then? Was it used in an advert or something?
