No. I’m saying that songs that go to ACR in December when they are due for ACR in December shouldn’t be getting reset and songs that go to ACR in December when they are due for ACR before December should be getting reset

That is exactly what your saying a songs due to hit 10 weeks in December shouldn't be reset but songs that are older but only go acr in December should get reset 🤣🤣

They shouldn't be reset period. If its a new track thats forced out fine but these songs have been here forever it feels like, can they just on acr and stay there. It just makes January so boring when the same songs just come back.

Looks like Olly Murs is going to get his lowest-charting album to date this week.

Ya its def looking that way and his first album not to go top 3.

This is why ACR doesn’t work, there’s all these ifs and buts and reset/dodge rules which shouldn’t exist and undermines the whole thing.

Would be nice if Raye could get to No.1 at some point into December though, rather than the usual dross.

It's not just ACR, streaming is corrupt and unfixable in it's current state.

ACR can make songs with similar sales have very different looking chart runs. Rein Me In has hovered in top ten for ages whereas 12 to 12 had to go ACR at the earliest week possible (iirc).

It still feels weird to me that a 5-track EP is going to #1 on the albums chart. I can't think of any other EPs which have charted highly on the albums chart. Are there many?

Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band ‘Sing’ EP is the last I can recall which reached #1, though that was a charity release so a bit different. Also had 7 tracks.

I'd say it 'works' if the purpose is to give emerging hits a leg up, turning an otherwise #110 hit into a #40 hit and so on. Quirky edge cases don't necessarily stop the bigger picture. Maybe though it creates a chart environment where we might feel compelled to say so-and-so is overdue ACR, unwittingly creating villains of the chart. Not a big fan of the implementation (would be nice to have some clarity on the OCC website about what is/isn't on ACR on a given week, dropouts too, why not?)*, but I do think it does what it sets out to do.

*Obviously do appreciate this as a resource when the chart gets posted here

No ACR doesnt work as it;s "rules" ,that only the OCC seem to know and get applied in whatever fashion the OCC decides, on a week to week basis, are based on a broken streaming system they have no desire to fix.

You'll have to forgive me, I'm not sure what you're talking about here? Is it just a matter of the occasional unexplained reset, or is there more?

I guess the conversation started in the context of what will be reset in the New Year, which admittedly does have its own peculiar set of undisclosed rules.

Press releases from the time seem to bill that as an album - as does Wikipedia

Maybe this will finally make people put some respect on his name!

I wonder if the buzz around Lily Allen's arena tour will push the album back in the top 10 - she was 16 on Monday but I guess that's possible!

Wouldn't be suprised if she climbed back up anyway, she only dropped so much because of 7 new entries in top 10 on monday

Yes exactly! Last week was a similar pattern, where she dropped to 11 in the first chart update and ended up at 6!

So hopefully she’s doing it again!

Looks like "The Fate of Ophelia" will tie as "Anti-Hero" as Taylor's longest-running UK #1 hit.
