March 29Mar 29 I’m fuming that I got this elimination spoilt for me on Monday by TikTok just randomly having “Jane Don’t Elimination Spoiler” in my recommended search box. My jaw would’ve dropped. But I weirdly didn’t care anyway because I don’t feel invested in anyone at this point. Like I actually don’t care who wins and who goes, so every result is a bit of a shrug.
March 29Mar 29 Author Gagged at that! Nini was the weakest in the challenge for me (the criticisms of Jane felt a little too harsh), but she had the better runway/reveal and slayed the lip-sync in comparison.Nini to go next week and honestly we have a pretty fine top 3 I'd say
March 30Mar 30 I would have liked to have seen Jane stay if only for the fact that it was her first lipsync and she actually surprised me with how much she went for the lipsync.Nini was on her second bottom in a row, and having seen her lipsync before we kinda all knew she would be flipping and serving the sync. Jane, however, does the cartwheel... Is NEVER going to turn that into a backflip... And it gets completely ignored?!It's called a "lipsync for your life", but that kinda gives the automatic advantage to lipsync queens 🤣 Michelle said the other week to one of the queens (not sure if it was in this or vTW) "a drag queen needs to be good at lipsyncing"... I think that's just a bizarre point of view 🤷♂️🤷♂️In any case, it's the name of the game and I won't be losing any sleep... But I'm only really bothered about a Myki win now that Jane is gone 🤣
March 30Mar 30 A drag queen should be able to lipsync though that’s their bread and butter. Especially nowadays, queens are working up through the clubs and nine times out of 10, they’re working the crowd with a lipsync. Moreso in America I know there’s a lot of live singing or comedy in the UK scene but that’s another topic entirely. And Jane can tbf, but there’s no point in the whole format if you just add up arbitrary points on imaginary spreadsheets. There has to be stakes to the competition, otherwise do we just let a front runner completely flop design challenges because they can’t sew and they get a pass because their track record is good.I mean the producers’ thing they can do is just put the queen low and not have them lipsync if they really want to save them or don’t want to risk it, and Jane didn’t totally bomb enough for that to not be an option. So I think mostly they just weren’t arsed about Jane despite how well she did and this season didn’t have a big shock moment or anything like that, so they really grabbed the chance to have that moment, and it’s kind of worked because the season hasn’t been discussed as much as this until now. The problem for me is there’s nobody with a winners’ edit and using the best queen as a kind of sacrificial lamb for a big moment is not it really. But then obviously I guess it is reality tv first and foremost and this is gonna happen.

But then obviously I guess it is reality tv first and foremost and this is gonna happen. You see, I don't disagree with any of this apart from the first bit. The producers can do whatever they want, but I one million percent disagree with the sentiment that in order to be a drag queen you should be able to lipsync. That is one option of what you may be able to do, but if that was the case we might as well just be calling drag dressed up lipsyncing. For lots of queens, their bread and butter is comedy or singing or whatever else! Lipsyncing is absolutely not a requirement of the job 🤣There's no question that Nini gave a fierce lipsync, it's just a shame that she can stay in the contest based on one skill that she is FAR BETTER than most at, when the competition could be seen putting everything she had into it despite ultimately standing almost zero chance of staying. Now that, to me, is a true lipsync for your life! If you don't even attempt to put on a show, sure (looking at you Charlie Hides, you might sing live, but at least give the syncing a go!), but I don't think a single one of us expected that cartwheel from Jane, and it was completely paid dust in favour of the queen effortlessly doing what she pretty much does best. 🤣Queens that are not so great at lipsyncing just have that extra pressure to avoid the bottom. Weeks that rely on effective performance/lipsyncing skills (lipsyncing in talent shows, girl group challenges etc) shouldn't really exist if that's almost always the get out of jail free skill in my view 🤷♂️
March 30Mar 30 They could’ve easily given Jane a save because she still served it. I agree that this came down to needing a shock moment and she finally slipped. The bottom 3 position the week prior made it slightly easier to set up and justify too. She was kind of sucking up all of the airtime and attention, I low-key understand why she got chopped. It never felt close or exciting since week 3-4.I hope they pick Myki as the new frontrunner now but you never know these days :’)
March 30Mar 30 I see no reason why that shouldn’t have been a double save bearing in mind that there hasn’t been one all season - maybe because there’s been a few top 2 lipsyncs and a double win for Juicy and Mia on the talent show. Jane did well in the lipsync but Nini absolutely destroyed, she shown that she can pull stunts at strong moments and god I love her, it’s a shame that her performance in the challenge was pretty stagnant. I’d have gone as far as to say that Myki and Juicy (surprisingly!) were the only funny ones.Darlene on the other hand… I just don’t see what most are seeing lol, her humour is just very… Big Bang Theory style comedy, and her runways are mostly tosh and relying on story. I’d go as far as to say she’s the American equivalent of Kitty Scott-Claus, although at least she’s not unlikeable like her.
Friday at 13:463 days Last week's episode is the lowest rated episode of the flagship franchise, and the second lowest rated Drag Race episode of all time. It received a rating of 2.2/10 on iMDB. The one lower than that is episode 5 of Global All Stars (2.1/10).
Friday at 19:463 days I find it so funny that people review bomb purely because they don’t agree with an elimination💀 and like yeah it wasn’t the best challenge ever but there’s no way it’s worse than basically all of GAS , AS1, or the evil twin episode from season 10.
Saturday at 23:192 days Juicy obviously won that lip sync but it was indeed her time to go. Surely she will slay next week anyway just like Morphine did in her season.
Sunday at 09:291 day That was… an episode of Drag Race. Why did we have a filler improv challenge at top 4, let alone when we had an improv challenge last week. I also feel like they critiqued Juicy for one thing then praised Myki for the same, why was she not allowed to do a character, I know it was a far less successful example but still. They praise Myki so much for character work and yet when other queens do a character they’re told to be themselves?! As we’ve seen juicy be vulnerable and fight, I’d argue we’ve seen more of her personality than we have Myki. I am kind of just like “oh cute” for whoever wins out of Myki and Darlene, I’d prefer Darlene tbh. I think her “do whatever” uniqueness, whilst it has been a bit frustrating in some challenges, is a strength when against Myki who really just feels almost engineered to be good at Drag Race. And I enjoy Myki, she’s great, I’m just not that excited when we’ve seen it all before. Darlene is such a joy and I feel like that joy and sense of self is exactly what drag needs in this climate. She has a weird mind and thinks of things nobody else would and that is way more exciting to me. Plus she has done really well this whole competition, there isn’t a week you could have eliminated her bar maybe the improv if you stretched to save Jane as I said last week. It would be kind of camp if they just crowned Nini now I don’t even really care lmfao like yes diva lipsync your way to the final then destroy everyone in the final lipsync
Sunday at 22:281 day It really was a challenge of two halves but Darlene really deserved this win as did Myki so I’ve got to give the former credit for doing it for me this time, but she’s still easily my least favourite of the three. As much as I do, I also don’t want Nini to win because I’m concerned about the amount of hate that’ll probably come her way from all angles 😔 but I know there’s pretty much no chance she’ll win anyway.
17 hours ago17 hr Author Honestly I wouldn't be surprised at this point if they just f*** us over and crown Nini. There's no way she won that lip-sync against Juicy they either just wanted Nini in the finale to make it feel like there's some stakes against Myki since they got rid of Jane (even if I'm lowkey rooting for Darlene despite it seeming very clear cut), or didn't want Juicy in the final purely for the lalaparuza. But yeah, meh, I'm not overly fussed who wins at this point. Myki and Darlene have both had excellent trajectories during the latter half of the competition so would be cool with either of them, but there's just not that same obvious star power there that all other winners have in the way that whether you wanted them to win or not you were still like 'yeah makes sense'.
9 hours ago9 hr Sorry, but no way Juicy was ever a finalist here despite the lip sync. She stumbled way too much and couldn’t hold onto that early peak. I can see her in All Stars in a couple of years. While Myki isn’t necessarily a memorable brand per se, as a drag queen she really embodies everything at which a winner would be expected to excel. She’s my overall favourite this season and my favourites win only 1/3 of the time, so it would be a nice occasion x
