It's already No.7 in Germany. Not sure if this is genuine support or a bot thing. The song really works with that kind of sound but I just wish a proper artist had had the idea and recorded it.I also don't know how royalties work with AI covers, and how they are even allowed to be released honestly. Can't Stromae's version just go viral instead? Such a brilliant song: he was Adele levels of huge during that era in France, and I'm sure the song would have smashed here (given a proper push, not just that Angel Haze version [that was clearly designed for the English market] that they still didn't really bother with lol)!

So it isn't entirely surprising.I feel it'll be similar to the likes of KPop where initially a lot of work is needed with English-speaking features etc before it then smashes out the gate in its own right with big artists/heavy hitters. Also as various African countries continue to develop economically, there will be a bigger impact on streaming services like Spotify. Similar to what's happened with Asia where Spotify expanded into rapidly in from the middle 10s/early 20s which has helped with crossover of hits I feel as some of the biggest global songs on Spotify sometimes start with big streams in other parts of the world which then gets them more general playlisting support elsewhere like Today's Top Hits etc.True, and you brought up a great point I forgot to include my original post. All of the African songs are originally in the English language, why do they need a western feature to get popular in the anglosphere. I get Spanish language songs needing a new English verse (even it is from a complete no name like Matt Terry, lol), or the K-pop songs being bilingual for wider appeal.
