Each week (aiming for Sunday evenings) I'll post one of these polls and ask you all to select your favourites from the week's new entries in the UK Singles Chart top 100. Unlike the similar polls in the genre forums, this poll is multiple choice - I'll leave it to your discretion how you want to give votes, if you want to just vote for your favourite each week then go for it, if not you can vote for as many songs as you feel deserve a vote (I will encourage people to make sure they've actually listened to all of the songs before voting but I can't enforce that obviously x). There's also a 'none of the above' option if you want to put in a protest vote. And then feel free to post in the thread any rankings/ratings or general thoughts. The song with the most votes at the end of the week will be the winner.

The winner of week 1, to the surprise of no one, is Swedish singer Zara Larsson's 'Midnight Sun', which finally entered the chart months after release amidst her current career resurgence which has also seen 'Lush Life' return to the top 10 and her remix of PinkPantheress' 'Stateside' taking off and lifting that song into the top 40. 'Midnight Sun' picked up 29 votes out of 49 total poll voters (I feel like that's better turnout than these polls usually had the first time around so yay, we'll see if that keeps up).

Full week 1 results:

1 29/49 Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun (#91)

2 19/49 Sabrina Carpenter - Such A Funny Way (#37)

3 10/49 Shakira - Zoo (#92)

[5/49 none of the above]

This week's contenders:

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide (#20)

James Marriott - California Rain (#22)

KATSEYE - Internet Girl (#24)

Lil Uzi Vert - What You Saying (#61)

Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas (#78)

Doechii - girl, get up. (feat. SZA) (#79)

Djo - Basic Being Basic (#81)

Djo - Delete Ya (#95)

She & Him - I Thought I Saw Your Face Today (#97)

ROLE MODEL - Writing's On The Wall (#98)

A more expansive list of options for week 2 as the 2026 release schedule kicks in... well sort of, technically only 2 of these 10 songs were actually released in 2026 and the list includes one from 1975 and another from 2008, but shh. We'll get there.

Hall of Fame:

Week 1: Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [29/49]

i really like a lot of the songs this week! Katseye gets an automatic vote for being Katseye but also cos i just adore the live version… i don’t believe in the studio version but that’s a story for another day! James Marriott really surprised me, love that song! I am bisexual so ofc i’m familiar with Landslide, tho more familiar with the glee version i still love the original. Ella Langley became a self-reccomendation recently and that song is so pretty. I LOVE IT. Both of those Djo songs are brilliant. Doechii can write DOWN. and Role Model’s song is very fun and catchy. The two i didn’t vote are just songs i didn’t connect with sorry!

Ranking:

  1. Katseye - Internet Girl

  2. Djo - Basic Being Basic

  3. Doechii & SZA - Girl Get Up

  4. Ella Langley - Choosin’ Texas

  5. James Marriott - California Rain

  6. Djo - Delete Ya

  7. Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

  8. Role Model - Writing’s On The Wall

  9. She & Him - I Thought I Saw Your Face Today (x)

  10. Lil Uzi Vert - What You Saying (x)

  • Fleetwood Mac - Landslide (#20) - bit too on the mellow side for me

  • James Marriott - California Rain (#22) - really strong vibe to this one, impressive

  • KATSEYE - Internet Girl (#24) - monotonous and annoying

  • Lil Uzi Vert - What You Saying (#61) - interesting switch up from him! liking this on first listen

  • Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas (#78) - that twang in her accent is a bit too unsavoury, pretty boring song anyway

  • Doechii - girl, get up. (feat. SZA) (#79) - not much substance to this at all, very very wallpaper

  • Djo - Basic Being Basic (#81) - fitting title

  • Djo - Delete Ya (#95) - also a fitting title

  • She & Him - I Thought I Saw Your Face Today (#97) - absolute snoozefest

  • ROLE MODEL - Writing's On The Wall (#98) - nice flow to this, catchy

Voted James, Uzi & RM.

Gone with Fleetwood Mac (how could I not), James Marriott and She & Him

Edited by gasman449

Only Katseye and Role Model for me this week. I've listened to that James Marriott song a couple of times and it's fine but doesn't sound like anything special to me.

  1. Doechii - girl, get up. (feat. SZA)

  2. Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas

  3. Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

  4. ROLE MODEL - Writing's On The Wall

  5. Lil Uzi Vert - What You Saying

  6. Djo - Delete Ya

  7. James Marriott - California Rain

  8. She & Him - I Thought I Saw Your Face Today

  9. KATSEYE - Internet Girl

  10. Djo - Basic Being Basic

Nothing I massively love this week but my top 2 are decent so I'll give them both a vote. 'Choosin' Texas' isn't the kind of country song I'd expect to blow up in the UK.

I think 'Writing's On The Wall' sounded better than 'Sally...'., 'What You Saying' is better than the average Uzi song

hardly fair to have all this new music up against the almighty LANDSLIDE but yeah my vote can't go elsewhere.

Ella Langley was surprisingly good and the semi-reliable Doechii is my other takeaway of the week.

  1. Fleetwood Mac - Landslide (#20)

  2. Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas (#78)

  3. Doechii - girl, get up. (feat. SZA) (#79)

  4. Lil Uzi Vert - What You Saying (#61)

  5. Djo - Delete Ya (#95)

  6. Djo - Basic Being Basic (#81)

  7. KATSEYE - Internet Girl (#24)

  8. James Marriott - California Rain (#22)

  9. She & Him - I Thought I Saw Your Face Today (#97)

  10. ROLE MODEL - Writing's On The Wall (#98)

Voted for the following:

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

KATSEYE - Internet Girl

Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas

Doechii & SZA - girl, get up.

Djo - Basic Being Basic

Djo - Delete Ya

ROLE MODEL - Writing's On The Wall

Loved the Djo songs for a while, the ROLE MODEL track was a fave from his album too. Internet Girl's really fun and overhated. Landslide is a lovely track, one I hadn't really focused on much until yesterday's chart play. I like the Doechii/SZA song even if it's neither artist's best, and Choosin' Texas sounded great on my play just now.

Didn't mind the She & Him song either and that could be a grower if I hear it more. James Marriott's song is alright, and I've certainly heard worse from Lil Uzi Vert x

About 4 hours left to vote in this! (New poll will be up later tonight again x)

My votes:

1 Landslide

2 Choosin' Texas

3 I Thought I Saw Your Face Today

4 girl, get up.

5 What You Saying

6 Writing's On The Wall

7 Delete Ya

8 Internet Girl

9 California Rain

10 Basic Being Basic

Predictable #1 etc., I actually don't know it that well (did sound vaguely familiar when I relistened but not to the extent I thought it might) but nonetheless definitely immediately see why it's among their classics. 'Choosin' Texas' is easily one of the better country crossover hits we've had, really lovely sounding production on it and don't feel like it falls into the pitfalls of corny songwriting that a lot of mainstream country hits do. The She & Him track was giving me Laufey vibes, very pleasant on the ears x Doechii song is good lyrically and I enjoy the SZA hook but the song overall feels like it's missing something still. Uzi having an inspired sample choice (can't say I ever expected to hear Indila on a charting song) but there's not a lot more to the song than putting that sample on a Jersey club beat, Uzi's own contributions are pretty unsubstantial, could have been a lot better than it was. The ROLE MODEL one is a decent light yeehaw bop but not as memorable for me as 'Sally, When The Wine Runs Out'. 'Delete Ya' is a little bit better than I remember it being but still mid. 'Internet Girl' is bland generic pop that thinks it's being interesting by having a non-sequitur chorus, would genuinely have preferred if it actually was as awful as some people made it out to be as that might at least be noteworthy. James Marriott cosplaying for a generic pop punk song just sounds awkward. 'Basic Being Basic' is still really annoying and really did not need this second chance at charting.
