  • Surely we don’t really think the charts should be dictated by a few gays aged 30-50 having a bit of fun instead of by what the country is listening to… I know many of us are in that demographic but re

  • With about 5 months to go until I hit this demographic, I’ve decided this is infact a great idea x

It does feel like it's stalled a little bit. I think the best we can hope for at the moment is for it to creep into the top 25.

You do have a point regarding the Singles Chart.
However, when it comes to the Album Chart, it’s quite sad to see new releases from veterans of the music industry such as Belinda Carlisle, Kim Wilde, Kenny Thomas and even the latest albums of Jack Garratt struggling and sinking simply because they don’t generate strong streaming sales.

I love those artists, but if they had released those albums 20 years ago, they would have been even less successful. In recent years, veterans of the music industry have started having high charting albums again.

Even in her heyday many of Kim Wilde’s albums were lower peaking than her albums these days.

Jack Garratt’s album Pillars was a very strong release and because streaming sales weren’t fully counted, it ended up peaking at just #43. Wasn’t that unfair?

What do you mean by 'streaming sales weren't fully counted'?

I think it'll chart in about the same place this week. Hopefully it's pushed a bit higher on playlists and Capital (properly) pick it up and Radio 1 airplay starts to impact it a bit more next week.

Is the new track by Harry Styles really worth being at No.1?

Yes, of course. And the fact that it's a 5-minute song makes it more interesting in the streaming era to be honest.

Glad to see Megadeth's final album at number 2, hope they can achieve a career best this week!

I like how the thread is 8 pages deep and its mostly irrelevant nonsense about a fake chart 🤣🤣

The occ keep saying if Louis & Harry get to #1 on album & singles chart respectively it’ll be the first solo 1d chart double… but surely Harry already achieved that with as it was and Harry’s house?

As much as I can't stand Harry's new one it'll be cool to see him at 1 on the singles and Louis take number 1 on the albums.

They probably mean by different members, has that happened before, and has it happened for any other band ?

I guess… but their wording isn’t really specifying by different members

His third LP could net Louis his second chart-topping solo album, following 2022’s Faith In The Future. With bandmate Harry Styles tracking for the Number 1 single with Aperture this week, a first-ever solo 1D chart double is on the cards, people. It feels like 2012 all over again! ”

The 1D bit to me implies different members because this is how they worded it when he did the double in 2022

"The Official Charts Company is happy to announce today that Harry Styles has become the latest artist to score the relatively rare Official Chart Double"

If Louis holds onto number 1 album, 1D will do the double with Harry being number 1 in singles

Well its physical sales clearly weren’t enough either so of course it’s fair. It’s not as if an album needs many copies to chart these days compared with 20 years ago.
