March 17Mar 17 Another vote for option A.From my ranking each of the songs from 1-24, here's how the ties turned out - the songs I voted for are on the left, in blue if they won their ties or in red if they lost, while those in bold are my favourite by their respective artists:1 vs. 2: David Bowie - Heroes vs. Erasure - A Little Respect3 vs. 22: Nik Kershaw - Wouldn’t It Be Good vs. Troye Sivan - YOUTH4 vs. 12: Blondie - One Way or Another vs. Nelly Furtado - Maneater5 vs. 6: FKA twigs - Eusexua vs Florence + the Machine - Shake It Out7 vs. 17: Atomic Kitten - Whole Again vs. George Michael - Fastlove, Pt. 18 vs. 16: ABBA - Lay All Your Love on Me vs. The Weeknd - Can’t Feel My Face9 vs. 23: Delta Goodrem - Lost Without You vs. Fred again.., FKA twigs & Headie One - Don’t Judge Me10 vs. 11: Chappell Roan - The Subway vs. ROSALÍA - DESPECHÁ13 vs. 24: HAIM - Now I’m In It vs. Lily Allen - f*** You14 vs. 18: Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone vs. Kesha - Tik Tok15 vs. 21: The Corrs - What Can I Do (Tin Tin Out Remix) vs. Ruel - Wild Guess19 vs. 20: Scissor Sisters - Fire With Fire vs. Conan Gray - OverdriveSo 9 of the 12 ties went the way of my vote, although that includes 3 of the 4 close ones for me - 'Heroes' is still strong enough to overwhelm my Erasure favourite, but 'The Subway' vs 'DESPECHÁ' was really tough - both slow burners that peaked at the same place in my personal chart, and the former now my favourite from Chappell which may have just swayed it for me. Most of the Conan songs I've heard in this contest would have got past 'Fire With Fire' for me, but this one just fell short. For the 3 ties which went against my vote, Nik Kershaw couldn't have done any more, but Blondie may have been more competitive with a different song as others have suggested. 'Eusexua' vs. 'Shake It Out' was a nightmare tie as those are my favourites by both artists so I didn't want to see either eliminated on those songs.

Had we not had BranchGate, it would've been 24 acts 🤣I guess you could've had bigger cuts during the Auditions/ Bootcamp/ Judges Houses, rather than 1 big cut at the battles. But then at least a large number of acts got to showcase at least 5+ songs.Yeah, that is true. Of course it is good when each participant has 5+ songs. Was just thinking out loud my ideas. This should not be seen a criticism but just an idea for future contests, because I personny was not a fan of that one on one battles randomly selected. If battles one could rank the average position of all artists from the rounds before and then the first plays the last, the second the second-last and so on. ;)
March 17Mar 17 Yeah it’s brutal but I think the big cut in the middle of the contest sort of makes sense. If you had very small eliminations all the way it would go on too long and the quality of the music entered would suffer. You don’t want big cuts early on as you want most people to be able to play a few rounds. You don’t want a big cut near the end as you want good gameplay towards the end among the lucky few who have made it through.Seeded battles based on prior performance is maybe something that could be considered in future. That would give an incentive to try and do really well in the early rounds and not just survive.
March 17Mar 17 I think competition is meant to be a bit brutal and I think that’s where the fun of this particular competition comes for me. So I don’t think you could call anything “unfair” so to speak, except for perhaps getting a really tough randomized draw.I actually kinda love the seeded idea for next year? Whoever comes 1st with cumulative points across all the previous rounds vs whoever comes 24th cumulatively, all the way up to 12th vs 13th. Ultimately, it’s still only up to one song so there’d still probably be plenty of upsets and it would still feel brutal. Not to mention, it would make people feel uneasy about playing it too safe in the initial rounds, just happy to scrape by etc. That’s only a suggestion for going forward though and definitely not a slight at this ongoing competition, because I think it’s being run with constant fun at the forefront.

March 17Mar 17 Author Stay tuned, some artists are about to be scooped up before being lost to the black hole.Sadly Guitarricadelafuente, Girlicious and The 1975 did not submit a song choice in time and one has been chosen at random for them from the artist's This Is... Spotify playlist for this round.Best of luck to everybody
March 17Mar 17 Author Before the round goes live in a short while (because I know people don't read the OP with the information in it xx):This round will be shorter than normal (as will be standard moving forward), with voting closing on Sunday 22 March! And at the end of this round, once the three winners are revealed, we will be revealing the identities of ALL of the eliminated artists!

March 18Mar 18 I have listened through once and will give the songs i do not know another spin through tomorrow. Two songs stand out for being two of the best songs of all time 😉. Making the next 3 choices is the problem.

March 18Mar 18 Author Introducing...The permanent judges for the Live Shows of The Pop Factor: Season 2... After being declared not required to break ties at The Black Hole Battles, Commander Eye Sack is taking a seat on the panel, while we also welcome back The Rogue Trader to the judging panel who appeared as a guest judge for one of the Live Shows in Season 1 of The Pop Factor. Newcomers to the judging panel for Season 2 are Le Jé d'Eleven and Jimmy-Jam Watts, ready to make some tough decisions. All four judges make up our permanent panel for Season 2, meaning they will be judging every Live Show... until the Grand Final, that is. 😉And there's more...But that's all on that for now!
