Prince responded by asking Smith to make a documentary about him. Smith said sure, but the project never got off the ground. When Smith tried to pull out, one of Prince’s assistants explained to him that it wasn’t that simple. 'Why not?' Smith asked. After all, he wasn’t even a documentarian; he made features. 'I get it’, the assistant said—but Prince doesn’t understand reality like the rest of do. Prince… Prince calls you at three in the morning to ask if he can get a camel. He isn’t doing it to be a jerk. But he does want the camel. It’s a funny story, of course. But it also illustrates the strength and commitment of Prince’s vision. The camel is an extreme example. But imagine you told him there was no way to mix new wave and psychedelia with funk and R&B. Or that a man couldn’t explore androgyny without risking his sex appeal. Imagine, really, telling Prince there were any conventional boundaries he had to respect—and then imagine how much groundbreaking art would’ve been lost if he’d listened. Born Prince Rogers Nelson in 1958, he trained in ballet as a teenager, starting his music career just out of high school. By 24, he’d already released a body of work (including Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999) that helped shape nearly every style of ‘80s pop music, Black and white; by 30, he was both a midnight-movie cult hero (Purple Rain) and a Beatles-level visionary (Sign o’ the Times). To read about his Paisley Park compound is to get a glimpse of a world of almost perpetual creativity—between his debut in 1978 and his death in 2016, there was barely a year he didn’t put out an album, and there were several years during which he put out two. He was one of pop music’s true universals, and yet always distinctly Black. And to listen to him mix sexual ecstasy with spiritual transcendence (“When Doves Cry”, “If I Was Your Girlfriend”) not only finished the mission Little Richard started, it delivered on rock ’n' roll’s promise that you could find heaven here on earth if you were willing to shake for it. - Apple MusicTop 100 Chart History1980 41 I Wanna Be Your Lover -1-1983 10 1999 -1-1983 54 Little Red Corvette -2-1984 04 When Doves Cry -1- MILLIONAIRE1984 06 Purple Rain (Prince & The Revolution) -2- MILLIONAIRE1984 58 I Would Die 4 U (Prince & The Revolution) -3-1985 02 1999 / Little Red Corvette1985 07 Let's Go Crazy / Take Me With U (Prince & The Revolution) -4-1985 18 Paisley Park (Prince & The Revolution) -1-1985 25 Raspberry Beret (Prince & The Revolution) -2-1985 60 Pop Life (Prince & The Revolution) -3-1986 06 Kiss (Prince & The Revolution) -1-1986 45 Mountains (Prince & The Revolution) -2-1986 11 Girls & Boys (Prince & The Revolution) -3-1986 36 Anotherloverholenyohead (Prince & The Revolution) -4-1987 10 Sign 'O' The Times -1-1987 20 If I Was Your Girlfriend -2-1987 11 U Got The Look -3-1987 29 I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man -4-1988 09 Alphabet Street -1-1988 29 Glam Slam -2-1988 24 I Wish U Heaven -3-1989 02 Batdance -1-1989 14 Partyman -2-1989 27 The Arms Of Orion (with Sheena Easton) -3-1990 07 Thieves In The Temple -1-1990 26 New Power Generation -2-1991 04 Gett Off (Prince & The New Power Generation) -1-1991 15 Cream (Prince & The New Power Generation) -2-1991 25 Diamonds And Pearls (Prince & The New Power Generation) -3-1992 19 Money Don't Matter 2 Night (Prince & The New Power Generation) -4-1992 28 Thunder (Prince & The New Power Generation) -5-1992 04 Sexy M.F. / Strollin' (Prince & The New Power Generation) -1-1992 07 My Name Is Prince (Prince & The New Power Generation) -2-1992 27 7 (Prince & The New Power Generation) -3-1993 52 The Morning Papers (Prince & The New Power Generation) -4-1993 14 Peach -1-1993 05 Controversy -2-1994 01 The Most Beautiful Girl In The World -1-1994 18 The Beautiful Experience -EP-1994 30 Letitgo -1-1995 33 Purple Medley -NAS-1995 20 Eye Hate U -2-1995 10 Gold -3-1996 36 Dinner With Delores -1-1996 11 Betcha By Golly Wow! -1-1997 19 The Holy River -2-2000 65 The Greatest Romance Ever -1-2004 43 Cinnamon Girl -1-2006 43 Black Sweat -1-2006 60 Fury -2-2007 81 Guitar (Prince & The NPG) -1-2014 90 PretzelBodyLogic (Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL) -1-1 x #1 | 7 x Top 5 | 16 x Top 10 | 28 x Top 20 | 41 x Top 40 | 53 x Top 100Social Media Prince

Instead, the Swedish singer feels most on point when she’s able to “just feel it.” Larsson’s ability to convey that mix of youthful confidence and emotional intensity helped make her one of Europe’s biggest new music stars while she was still in her teens. Born in 1997 in a suburb of Stockholm, Larsson first found fame in Sweden when her performance of Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” clinched her victory on a TV talent show at the age of 10. After leaving school to focus on her music full time, she released her debut album, 1, in 2014, which topped the charts throughout Scandinavia and landed her a U.S. record deal. By the time she was scoring international hits alongside rapper Tinie Tempah on “Girls Like” and guesting on David Guetta’s “This One’s for You”, she was fast developing beyond the familiar dance-pop templates and demonstrating a boldness that evoked Beyoncé and Rihanna, two of her biggest influences. (She paid tribute to another inspiration a few years later when she released a sumptuous cover of Robyn’s “With Every Heartbeat”.) “Never Forget You”, a thrilling collaboration with singer and producer MNEK that also marked Larsson’s first songwriting effort, became her first major U.S. success. Together with the album So Good, the song established the power and allure of Larsson’s sleek yet impassioned brand of EDM-powered pop. - Apple MusicTop 100 Chart History2015 05 Never Forget You (MNEK & Zara Larsson) -1- MILLIONAIRE2016 03 Lush Life -2- MILLIONAIRE2016 05 Girls Like (Tinie Tempah feat.
