I think it closed down in maybe 2015. It had artist pages with all their entire discography listened and their entire chart runs plus a line graph to show it's performance in the top 100.

It was so satisfying for chart nerds like me and I hate there's nothing really like it these days..

It lives on at the Wayback Machine! https://web.archive.org/web/20120918204205/http://www.chartstats.com/ As does the version of the website after the OCC requested that all chart data be removed h

What was the other website that was the only place you could find full historic charts online before the OCC got their act together?

That was chartstats - it got shut down by the OCC presumably because they were just about to launch their site revamp which has the same functionality (or at least attempts to).

I loved the little graphs, I don’t know why but there was something so satisfying about them and they would visually stay in my head when I thought about chart runs. I think they tracked the first 11 weeks in the Top 40 and in my mind I considered it an underperformance if the full graph wasn’t complete.

This is of course in the pre-streaming era where songs didn’t stick around for months on end and most albums could even achieve 11 weeks in the Top 40.

Chartstats was great, but it's not surprising that the OCC forced it to close when they were ready to launch their own equivalent site. It's just a shame the OCC didn't work with the owner of that site to make sure their archive was better.

In other news... who is still funding this website to remain active some 15 years since it was last ever updated...

The website is owned by Dean Jackson, who presents a music show on some BBC local radio stations on a Saturday evening. He did once say that he intended to update the website though that was more than a decade ago. I'm assuming that it's not too expensive to continue to pay the hosting fees and website registration costs.
