  • I must admit I'm pretty disappointed that Schiller couldn't qualify. I thought this is an easier qualifier. I must also admit, I've lost a bit of interest on BJSC. From one side I have less time to s

Sorry guys, I didn‘t want to start a discussion about favouritism or something like that. That‘s not exactly what I wanted to say.

I wanted to say that I might tend to send cheaper entries and people know me like this. And if I try to send something else, it might be not received that well as from a country that is not sending cheaper entries.

In the last 2-3 years I found the competition fairly balanced whilst for 12—14 years when I took part I felt different.

Also I‘m not that up to date anymore with new music, that can cause also bad results.

I think this is partly the reason why I left for so long*

Back in the day I'd send relatively cheap entries to mixed results (my good results were always on the cheaper side of things - or ones that were recommended by others to enter as I didn't have a clue what to send that month...), and the ones that were less cheap pretty much all DNQ'ed 🤣

I'm playing things differently this time around: since I was late to Valencia, I'm trying to only send artists that haven't been entered before with songs that I like alot, so far it's given me 3 Q's (with 2 low final results, which I'm less bothered about) and at least 25 songs from other posters that I really love!

* other reasons being:

  • I kept forgetting to vote so I got slapped with a few deductions and contest bans haha

  • I kinda just forgot to go back to it (yay ADHD 🤣)

  • Work/life got in the way

Don't feel bad about not entering if you don't feel up for it, the contest is supposed to be fun afterall!

I typed this up when I was unable to sleep last night and meant to post it before the final results started but forgot to oop. Better slightly late than never and with some somewhat interesting observations x

* Bøtanikkä's mid-contest withdrawal from BJSC 180 is not counted as a DNQ for the purposes of this list

** did not enter this contest so may resume a non-consecutive streak in the future

The podium remains unchanged with Hendinia's ever expanding record reaching 63 in consecutive contests and 68 in non-consecutive ones, Aeroche staying their runner-up and Danæviia in the bronze spot expanding their record to 25. Also no change to the next 3 nations with Neliönoir's record now expanding to 20 (making them the 18th country to achieve two straight years' worth of contests of all qualifiers) and Kluminican Republic's to 18. The two nations that hit 10 in a row last month both falter however leaving that distinction to only the top 6 for now - although two more nations are primed to join those on double figures next month, with Mothertopia further expanding their current national record to 9. Land of DW and Zanmatony are replaced in the top 10 by Fljótavík and The Spodic Empire - the latter make it to 6 in a row for the first time after matching their previous record of 5 last month. (I'd need to do some digging to see when the bar to be in the top 10 was last as low as 6!)

A bunch of the nations on 3 in a row are now on their national records - as much discussed, Deandria finally make it to 3 in a row for the first time after getting to 2 in a row for the 6th time last month, but there are also ties of previous records of 3 in a row for Cheiron (previously achieved in BJSCs 165-167, 169-171 & 177-179), Juranabaijan (previously achieved in BJSCs 51-53) and Scotland 2 (previously achieved in BJSCs 169-171). Juranabaijan's record in non-consecutive contests is 4 as they also qualified in BJSC 42, their last appearance prior to the 51-53 run. How many can make it to 4 in a row (in consecutive contests) for the first time next month? Finally, as also already mentioned, Freidland and Lentyll both make it to 2 finals in a row for the first time, the latter now matching their non-consecutive record (having had back-to-back entries qualifying in BJSCs 22 & 180 with a record gap in participation in between).

Wow at only 10 countries managing more than 4 in a row. All of those top 6 in particular have done amazingly to survive the past year and a half unscathed

Didn't realise my "real" first Q "streak" happened last year. lol It was too long of a gap so I wouldn't think that.

Well, first back-to-back Qs without a gap is still something to cross off my list of personal goals!

Oh next edition I could make it to 4 qualifiers in a row for the first time... Maybe now isn't the time for a risk... 🤣🤣

Hopefully it pays off!
