April 8Apr 8 Up until the last couple weeks I actually haven't found the charts too stagnant this year! Sure Olivia Dean's stuff is not going away any time soon and there are lots of old songs getting reset but at least most of them are reaching new peaks! And even if Rein Me In staying at the top is annoying at least Bella Kay and BTS provided at least some kind of competition at one point during its reign. Would be good if we had more new entries but if things are reaching their peak popularity currently I don't mind long-runners/old songs in the chart. Edited April 8Apr 8 by gasman449
April 8Apr 8 The fast turnover was nice whilst it lasted but hyperthetically Bella and RMI were both ACR last week we would of been looking at a number 1 with potentially only 31k , those 2 songs are head and shoulders above the rest in sales so they deserve the longevity Heck if MIN wasnt on ACR that could of had well into double digits weeks at number1
April 8Apr 8 It's the last couple of weeks I've found particularly stagnant too, but it does feel like we've had fewer hits that have actually been released in 2026 - we've only had 9 top 10 hits released this year (I Just Might, Harry x3, Homewrecker, The Great Divide, iloveitiloveitiloveit, SWIM, FEVER DREAM), and the two Harry songs are the only #1s released in 2026.By comparison, this time last year, we'd had 14 top 10 hits released in 2025 (Ordinary, Anxiety*, twilight zone, Sports car, Revolving door, Busy Woman*, The Giver, NOKIA, Abracadabra, Playboi Carti x2, Cry for Me, Central Cee x2). Of these, though, only one was a #1 hit (obviously Ordinary) but the top 10 had seem some more turnover.*slight asterisk to these ones as they existed before 2025 but weren't widely released until then

Lil Nas X hit #1 in 2019 though.Post Malone & Chappell Roan (The Giver) both got to #2.I track all recent country songs in the UK charts here - https://www.buzzjack.com/forums/topic/265408-country-songs-in-the-uk-charts-2010-present/

April 8Apr 8 2013 was not stagnant, though? The charts really only became this stagnant in the last 2-3 years.

April 9Apr 9 To think there was a point a few months ago where we thought 'Rein Me In' had already peaked at #5!

April 9Apr 9 Rein Me In sounds like the type of song that’ll keep selling consistently and take ages to hit acr

April 9Apr 9 Yes it took longer to peak but its definitely this years MIN and ordinary by the looks of things
April 9Apr 9 Speaking as a Sam Fender fan (who still very much loves Rein Me In)...Wouldn't the song just have disappeared months ago if he hadn't chucked Olivia Dean on it?
April 9Apr 9 Its hard to tell with the Olivia version but his solo version has never done any spectacular kinds of numbers so it could be possible
