I definitely prefer the original but I knew the Britney version first so perhaps that helps it in my estimations.

I think 'My Prerogative' is a fairly shoddy cover version, not exactly among her best. However 'Do Somethin' - now that is an underrated BANGER and would've got a much higher score from me!

Breathe In is the least great of Lucie's UK top 40 hits for me but I still have a lot of love for it, it's so breezy and lush! Way too low but not surprised x

It’s alright, a bit dull. Could’ve easily been replaced with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Shakira, Kelly Rowland…

I loved the other singles from that Lucie Silvas album (and the accompanying album is good), but I was never fond of that one really.

I would check the parent album, it's very Delta.

In fact, What You're Made Of, the single that came before this one (and another top ten hit) is very similar to Not Me, Not I, so maybe see if you like that first. The Game Is Won is a great song too.

Breathe In is a nice enough song, was never one I absolutely loved but nice that Lucie got another top ten hit with it, and it was quite jolly and breezy.

The posters of BuzzJack made their own decision about 'My Prerogative' and gave it a 6.84 average in the end.

'My Prerogative' was originally released by Bobby Brown in 1988 and was an early smash for the new jack swing genre. Brown wrote this as a response song to the criticism he received for his firing from boyband New Edition. Important new jack swing figure Teddy Riley is also part of the writing and production team on this song. I know him best for working on Michael Jackson's Dangerous album following the famous trio of Quincy Jones produced records. 'My Prerogative' reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and made #6 in the U.K., however a certain cover would outdo it here...

Britney was enough of a bonafide pop princess to release her first Greatest Hits compilation at just 22 years old. This was titled Greatest Hits: My Prerogative and spawned two more top 10 hits for her in 'My Prerogative' and 'Do Somethin'. Her cover of 'My Prerogative' was given a fresh spoken intro but is otherwise faithful to the original lyrically, albeit from a female perspective. Britney was often under media scrutiny for her own decisions so this version can be seen as a commentary on that. She recorded the vocals for this track in Germany amidst embarking on the Onyx Hotel Tour. Producers Bloodshy & Avant, who also worked on 'Toxic', gave the song an Arabic flavour with a sample of 'Batwanes Beek' by Warda.

'My Prerogative' failed to chart in the U.S. but performed well here during a highly competitive week in November 2004. Spears reached #3, her 15th U.K. top 10 hit, behind a lose-lose top 2 in 'Just Lose It' by Eminem and Destiny's Child's 'Lose My Breath'. She was ahead of Christina Aguilera's Shark Tale anthem 'Car Wash' at #4 and Usher's 'Confessions Part II' at #5, an all-new top 5.

'My Prerogative' could be found as track #2 on Pop Princesses 2 so we've lost 2/3 of the first three songs now with both Britney and Rachel departing. The opener 'Wake Me Up' by Girls Aloud remains!

Henessy Lake's truth was being the biggest fan of 'My Prerogative' as he gave it his top marks! Meanwhile, Julian_ saw nothing wrong with spreading his low scores around, so Britney gets just 1.

I have fond(-ish) memories with this version by Britney but I agree that it's far from her best singles or my favourites.

It was my lowest rated track but 7.0 is still good to an extent because of the earworm-y production. It's a song that hasn't aged well yet it has at the same time (I get it, tabloids and fan scrutiny et al.).

Listen to the Bobby Brown original - that one is ace. Britney's voice does not fit to this song at all.

Like both the original and Britney's version of 'My Prerogative'. But Bobby Brown edges it for me.

Rachel Stevens demanded more, more, more so BuzzJackers increased this next average by over a whole point, with a 6.11 result bagging her a top 20 position.

Debut single 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' had been a success story from Rachel's debut album Funky Dory, but the title track did not light up the charts. Rachel followed up this blip with Sport Relief smash 'Some Girls' and capitalised on this momentum with a deluxe version of Funky Dory, which also featured a cover of 'More, More More', pencilled in as the next single. The original was released by adult film star turned disco diva Andrea True, more specifically credited to Andrea True Connection. This 1976 hit managed to chart in the top 5 across both sides of the Atlantic and was later sampled in '90s classic 'Steal My Sunshine' by LEN. Bananarama also got in on the action in 1993 with a Mike Stock and Peter Waterman make-over of the song. It was less successful for them, peaking at #24 here in the U.K., their last top 40 hit for 12 years.

Rachel stepped into the arena and casually delivered the highest charting version of 'More, More, More' in the U.K., when it reached #3, out-peaking the original by 2 spots. This was no mean feat in a week that featured a whopping seven new entries in the top 10, including Robbie's 'Radio' at the top, fellow Pop Princesses 2 hit 'Whatever U Want' by Christina Milian and even the much referenced Khia. 'More, More, More' was chosen to highlight Sky Sports' football coverage for the 2004-5 season, which was a smart move, as it helped propel Elton John's 'Are You Ready For Love?' to #1 the previous year. I associate it more with ScS sofa adverts though!

'More, More, More' could be found as song #3 on Pop Princesses 2, which feels appropriate, considering its chart peak and More x3 title.

Rachel particularly stole the hearts of Viper*, Lee_J11 and 777666jason who found this cover worthy of a 9. However, Julian_ didn't want any more of this, scoring it a 2.

This came 20th, this is was just fantastic from Rachel Stevens, I mean it couldn't be disliked.

The original is far superior than the dodgy Britney cover of my perogative so Britney should be lower

What a Girl Wants isnt bad but by Christina's standards is definitely on the lower end

I suppose its better than her attempt at I love Rock N Roll I guess , but i find most of Britneys covers iffy like shes trying to be something shes not

I liked My Prerogative when it was released but I don’t think I’ve gone back to it properly in 20 years. I’m not really a fan of it now. I do agree that Britney’s cover singles are much weaker when compared to her original ones.
