honestly, I'm not really a fan of "teasing the number of YT views" after that Sarah Kinsley moment, since people might deliberately attempt to spam confirm that same song just to get it vetoed.

It was weirdly "fun" at first, but it'd get annoying if repeated too often. 🙏

I’m not and I was thinking this the other day… I don’t understand how people can vote by watching a video because it’s barely our fault if our song only has a lyric video/visualiser/album art as the video

Did that artist maybe finish second recently?

I think a good music video can sometimes enhance a song but a bad video / lack of video doesn't make any difference. (You can always just submit an audio version for the link if you really don't want people to watch the video x)

Sent something for now. I feel like sending a (K) pop banger again. I feel like I'm due a pop hit, and this one's been stuck in my head since I first heard it!

It's been quite a while since I've sent something along the lines of "I'm Ready" by Chung Ha or "Na" by Hwasa, and it's something I generally love. But I might change it if any of my other potentials grow on me. We shall see. I have a main potentials list of 65 at the moment, so you never know!

Some of the ones on top are various levels of glorious Japanese nicheness. Three of them are instrumentals, and one of them is something I've never sent before, which is just noise. J-noise. Made by some strange and retro instruments. It's a style of music I've never sent before, but I've been having some noise-curious moments as of late. It's weird, as that usually either makes me frustrated, sick to my stomach or rather sleepy (or give me suppressed nightmares about crying in a dumpster - where that kind of music usually festers), but I think it would be fun to try sometime. It feels like the right tune for me.

Although it might be too structured and accessible (and short!) for noise bloc proper, though.

If I do send it someday, I'm obviously hoping for an 18 by Elëdan in the final😊😄

I very much agree with this! I love music videos, and if it's a really good one, it might tip the scale if I like two songs equally and I need more factors to decide. A bad one or lack of one generally doesn't tip the scale in the other direction, though. Maybe if I REALLY hate it, hah, but that's quite rare :)

The only really offputting music video for a BJSC song that immediately comes to mind for me is the one for Kenzie May's 'Honey' -shudders- - but yeah, I really don't think it had any bearing on my opinion of the song. More recently there was YOU LOVE HER's 'This Is A Raid' which forced me to look at its really nasty album cover for the whole duration of the listenthrough as it didn't have a video but I gave that 18 points so x

I have had one song as a potential for a while now that, other than 'STORM', has probably the best (and most unhinged) video I have seen this year. It would be a hoot during the listenthrough, but I'm not sure if the song would hit as hard without it. I feel like most people don't actually watch videos outside of the listenthrough?
