I don’t think we should have contests like Bop Idol/Pop Forum Song Contest etc.. themed specifically to lengths of how long a song should be.

I’d like to continue taking part in contests like this and not have to worry about listening to 20+ songs of over 5 minutes (for arguments sake) for example.

A couple of entries isn’t so bad, but when it’s restricted to being a theme, I think it should be down to the individuals to choose whether they want to send a 20 minute song or a 1:30 minute song… it’s largely why I don’t bother with Buzzfestivalen anymore - the pressure of trying to find a song specifically under 3 minutes got too much tbh lol. I like being able to send whatever song I want and I don’t think it’s as easy trying to find a song I’m happy with based on it’s length compared to finding a song from 2006 for example.

I don’t think Keisha scored a single point in the last sets of votes since yesterday lmao! But I appreciate the love it did get and it out did my expectations… MASSIVELY! I never thought it’d contend for top 5 at any point so to finish 8th is great new for me! An underrated beaut and yes, one of my favourite vocalists of the 00’s… really under appreciated. Her cover of ‘The Weakness In Me’… GORGEOUS. Ahead of it’s time and would have been a huge top 5 smash in 2010…

‘Don’t Mistake Me’ though… that key change! Just glorious. Her whole catalogue is great tbh. Not sure if people know this but she also sings the Tracy Beaker theme song *.*

2nd and 3rd and 10th and 11th swapped, @Bror up to 20th and @CowTzy no longer at the bottom. Oops at Basement Jaxx taking a tumble - I had noticed they got very consistent low to middling scores but were in nobody’s top 3.

Overall the differences aren’t large though and I think it was nice for people to be able to vote for 15.

Agreed, it was nice to have the breathing space to have 15 to vote for. Certainly my 5 and 4 pointers I'd have been disappointed to have no space for.

Interesting result for Basement Jaxx on that system. I guess that's why I thought it could have been a contender, because it's a fun song that's hard to dislike and clearly accordingly had a large spread of voters across different voting bases. However, what I didn't anticipate is that nobody would rank it as a top favourite.

Indie-pop, electronic and alt seems to be the lane to do well here? I'm not sure we've had a pure pop winner yet in seven editions. Black Box Recorder is basically a pop song, but by an indie band, Dido and Agnes the others closest to it.

I had considered doing the reveal that Dan did for the 20th century foreign language contest, where everyone’s 1-12 are revealed as the “jury score” and the top 3 held back and revealed later as the “televote”. Basement Jaxx would have won the jury vote by miles and scored a televote 0, with Camera Obscura jumping to the top on the televote from outside the top 10.

Yes, I would have explained that at the end but Julian mentioned it when he revealed my vote. Sandie Shaw got to number 68 in 1986 with a cover version.

I’m not sure really. I know 2nd is known as the death slot for Eurovision, which makes sense as you’re early enough to be forgotten without getting the 1st slot impact. And I’ve always thought last is good for anything with a public vote. Although actually that doesn’t seem to always play out in Eurovision, maybe because there are so many songs and people are tipsy or losing concentration by that point. Anyway on Buzzjack people are discerning enough that there probably isn’t much advantage or disadvantage from being anywhere. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think there's a lot of evidence on Buzzjack that running order makes much of a difference, although I sent a Turkish rock track to BJSC last summer that came 2nd in the final, which was a notable improvement on its semi-final placing of 6th (so it was projected to finish outside the top ten in the final), where it had closed the show.

I didn't think it worked as a closing track particularly, some songs work better halfway through where they have breathing space to make their presence felt in the general mix and add more to the ebbs and flows.

But then the most recent BJSC had the semi-final winner as the final song in the running order, Go by Public Service Broadcasting, which absolutely did work in that position as it has such a triumphant feel to it. So really it depends on the song, other songs around it, the people voting, and various other factors.

Congrats @King Rollo! The song I gave 12 points to won, which was also the case in the most recent BJSC.
