I know Sombr plays to TikTok and virality but honestly bringing out a song which starts with a reference to the 4th July a week before the 4th July is too transparent for me to deal with. Its so contrived its boring. Homewrecker was similar where you can see the Tik Tok edits a mile away. But his success before was based on how interesting his songs were. Not because they were leaning in to what executives think will hit.

I want Sombr to be successful but I do need this to flop a bit. Potential was a better song than this but I guess got overran by Homewrecker. I can't have this working and giving execs an excuse to make him more contrived.

Found this a bit dreary on first listen but the chorus is starting to hit a bit with subsequent listens. Still not up there with 'Undressed' or 'Homewrecker' or '12 To 12' but I guess I can see why it hasn't taken off initially - maybe it still will.

OK it took a few listens but I'm fully into this now. Such a stunning song! Why are we not talking about it more?
