Actually think there have been a few big brother series and drag race all stars competitions where this has happened

Yeah I have to admit that I agree with these posts, I'm not sure this is a good idea for the game. Who goes through is basically going to come down to the opinions of the judges, which feels harsh. Everyone who goes out is going to feel really hard done by! It's gonna be BRUTAL.

(Now who do I have to bribe to go through? )

Not my favourite twist ever especially when it’s down to one judge and not necessarily a democracy between the three.

Hope they keep an open mind to the lesser known acts as well as the fan faves ❤️

The host has openly made comments about his love for pure pop music - so if loads of alt-pop acts are eliminated, I’m not sure you can get away from comments about that

Similarly if you have pure pop acts eliminated (especially ones that have had strong previous rounds) you run the risk of annoying a lot of people/leaving a bad taste in the mouth

I can’t speak for the other judges but the decisions I made were partly personal opinion (the songs made a difference) and partly what I thought would be best for the competition.

I think I’d have preferred all 3 judges voting in each category (to protect them from feeling too much responsibility as much as anything else) but it’s a fun twist anyway!

Just for full clarification, the judges have known for several weeks now and they've got my full support and backing (and returning judges were even offered new identities to protect them from potential backlash ) with the decisions they've made whether it's pop or alt artists eliminated tonight. They've been great sports, so if anyone is deeply affected by tonight's results take it out on me and not them x

Take it out on the production team orchestrating the (potentially) controversial outcome, not the people who have been asked to make a very difficult decision

This will be a MESS but a fun one. I doubt the judges are going to base their decisions solely on their personal taste. Also, it might work out better for the riskier choices/underdogs.

It’s hard to say what logic is “best for the competition” in reality. That’s not to say any decision made is right or wrong, but I don’t think any artist has more worth or more of a place in the competition than another, so I’m intrigued what the rationale behind anyone voting for anything other than the song submitted would be.

I think that depends

Using the female category as an example (as that one is full of heavy weights) - the judge assigned may have been voting certain artists above others in all rounds. If for example Kate Bush (arguably the alt act) had always appeared at the top or bottom of that judges list - the decision is already made!

Are they voting on the songs we submitted for this round? Or on the basis of all of the rounds?

And if it's the former, can those songs be played again in future rounds?
