Congrats @Chez VampireBat cheer not my cup of tea but clearly it was everyone else's lol.

Super happy for @Jadaver and @blacksquare ending in Top <3 as well!!!

Also delighted I managed to actually finish Top 10 after all...I was expecting a total flop but I am glad I was proven wrong so thank you everyone for your votes, especially 20 from @awardineerie <3.

And lastly, thanks @matto for hosting...despite all the issues that came along the way, you did a fabulous job with hosting and presenting the results, and most importantly just glad to know that you're ok <3.

Congratulations @Chez VampireBat !

PISS are a fantastic band, and ‘blocking a scene you can't remember’ was the only song from the nominations that I’d already heard before the contest started. At that time I had no prior knowledge of the band or song, so was completely unprepared, and it did take my breath away.  I’ve found it really difficult to listen to again though, a bit like how I feel about songs like Dave & Ruelle’s  ‘Lesley’ and Rhoda Dakar & The Special’s ‘The Boiler’.

Thanks for anyone who gave me votes, despite my overall rubbish result.

Most of all thanks to @matto for some really fantastic hosting in such difficult circumstances, I hope things are working out for you.🙏

And of course, thanks for the shout out over my voting messages!!😆

Congrats to PISS on reigning supreme! Not @Chez VampireBat being one point away from doing the double and becoming an unstoppable cross-forum contest force like @The Addyms Family 😮

Really glad 'Body Language' had so many fans, even during a PISS landslide. It's been one of my most played songs of the year, and something I’d been flirting with sending to BJSC since February. Her new album is so fab too 🖤

Great contest everyone x

Can't forget to say well done to @matto for hosting, especially during your home situation. Smashed it 🖤

Dedication is going to the library, whipping out your portable keyboard, and making sure to finish the results for an internet song contest x

Thank you also to @blacksquare for sending me the new templates that I was able to use for this contest. It was actually quite enjoyable using it and inputting all the votes, and it telling me everything is ok / complete haha.

So happy my BJSC template actually worked. I can try and customise them further for any other contest that uses a funky scoring system

Congratulations Chez on your first ever Unknown Pleasures victory 🤩 I look forward to your hosting flair (presumably) whenever the next edition rolls around. Great to see my favourite entry winning so emphatically. Jaz's comparison of 'The Boiler' also came into my head for 'blocking a scene you can't remember', due to its similarly raw, compelling execution of the same harrowing subject matter. But with PISS' own stamp of course, just stunning. Thank you for introducing me to this song <3 I'll be sure to check out the accompanying album (on top of The Big Moon, Ex:Re and RIP Magic off the top of my head this week, whew...)

I'm having a bit of a bridesmaid week so far after finishing 2nd in Pointless too! Seriously though, I'm thrilled 'Tears Won't Tell' connected to the extent it did. I thought this song was something special when I came across it (with the breath-taking vocal performance, dark production and a long run-time that keeps you on your toes right until the end) but had no idea what to expect success-wise, especially as historically I've struggled to crack Unknown Pleasures. Which may be surprising as an 'alt bloc' nation in BJSC ever since debuting in that over a decade ago now. But I thought maybe I was on to something here when the listen through reaction was so positive. Not only do I have my first top 5 finish in Unknown Pleasures (after what must be about 9 years of entering?!) but podium placer at that, amazing <3 what a result and if I was going to be blocked by anything, then I'm glad it was my +20 pointer. Thanks everyone for the support! It was particularly wonderful to receive such a generous haul of medals.

Not only did my favourite win, but the rest of my podium courtesy of Maria & The Mirrors and Twin Tribes also finished in the top 5 (just realised me and Chez had the exact same silver and bronze, then each other as our gold medal, so in sync lol), plus I gave Lene 3000 7 points as well... so yay, I feel very connected with this month's consensus *.* I would've liked better results for Prostitute and Total Wife but can't be too greedy I guess, will take away two more great discoveries there nevertheless.

Thank youuuuu Mattias for all of your hosting efforts <3 especially considering your circumstances! Wishing you a smooth transition with your house move this weekend.

Well done to Chez on your win! I found it really hard to know how to vote for PISS. It was undoubtedly the entry that stuck with me the most at the end because the message of it is so horrifying real. But I’d be lying to say I enjoyed it as a piece of music, and instead as more of a monologue or dramatic reading? So I ended up giving it points just for being so stand out as to elicit such a reaction from me regardless of how I felt about it from a musical standpoint. And an obvious winner, much deserved - to think I’ve given you points in both contests this month, Chez, that can’t happen much!

I don’t think there was much I’d take away from UP but it was a fun experiment, if it was a one off. I like to broaden my horizons but I think I’m too loyal to needing my big pop choruses to get enough out of this, but that’s not to say there wasn’t some great stuff here. Lene 3000 was fantastic so I definitely enjoyed my 20. I think I totally underestimated what an indie/alt contest would be and didn’t expect so much abrasiveness so I’m not surprised my relatively laid back entry fell through the cracks. Glad I got to share it somewhere though and some people enjoyed it, especially Jaz! ❤️

Well done on getting results done Mattias, it’s hard enough to host any kind of contest under completely normal circumstances, with a sense of pressure that just naturally comes with it so when that’s coupled with external stress, I really don’t envy you feeling like you have to make an online song contest a priority. But you did it and it went flawlessly in the end and I just hope you’re in a healthier living situation soon so that you don’t have to experience anything like that again. I used to live in a shared house with a junkie who’d knock on my door in the night and just stare at me - it’s deeply unsettling and it’s not something a gentle soul like yourself should have to put up with. But smashed it.

just wanna say it’s always nice seeing pop fans participate here. even if maybe our tastes don’t always align, it shouldn’t put anyone off from stepping outside their comfort zone bc there’ll always be a little overlap, and seeing where that is can be the best part! I’ve said this before, and I know we all like to engage in “alt bloc pop bloc” shit for laughs but there’s a reason “alt bloc” is on a primarily pop forum instead of the fantano or stereogum comment section, and that’s bc most of us can appreciate a good pop song !!
